Thinking of the teachers and having been in and out of so many schools, colleges and universities, visiting , studying or teaching I can say with confidence, with the least fear of being contradicted, that the quality and dedication of the teachers of the Primary and Secondary Schools of Mannanam have been unrivalled. This is not just my own view, it has also been the view of many outstanding former students of my Mannanam School. One of the most illustrious former students of Mannanam School, whom we lost about a few years ago, Prof. VV john used to say that even after he returned from the Oxford university after studies, he used to visit Mannanam High School because of the respect he had for his teachers and the admiration for the school library, which he once had told me was better than many college libraries. My father Mr. P.C Kurian, who immediately after his graduation, had taught for one year in St. Ephrem’s School , used to say how academic and scholarly used to be the many stalwarts among the teachers. The teachers room was a veritable meeting place of scholarly and lively minds resulting in sober enjoyment and high level discussions. And among the students too there such outstanding geniuses like V.V john and K.K Mathew, who had later shown as stars at the all india educational and judicial fields. I remember, during his visit to Udayapur, my father was telling prof. V.V. John, who was director of College Education in Rajasthan at the time, how as teachers, some of them, used to, during leisure periods, take out the composition book of students like K.K Mathew and V.V. John, out of curiosity, to read the very beautiful pieces they often wrote and how the teachers were too sure, that some day will make an outstanding contribution in the country, which they both, and some others did, in a very ample measure.
