Presrvation of Rivers Water is the elixir of life and rivers are the arteries of a country. Rivers have played a vital role in shaping civilizations all over the world. All ancient civilizations sprang up and prospered on the banks of rivers. Fresh water which is inevitable for plants,animals and human life. Even today agricultural activity largely depends on the water provided by rivers. Apart from water the fertile soil carried by rivers contribute to an increase in production. Rivers help a country in its economic growth. Transportation and power generation are made easy by river. It is a sad thing that people are not realizing the importance of rivers .The water that rivers carry now contain pesticides,chemicals and poisonous waste from factories. The banks of rivers are dirty and unhygienic now. Rivers must be preserved people, instead of waiting for government should take themselves the initiative to keep the rivers clean. Rivers are one of the gift of nature.
