ENVIRONMENT The relation between human and nature had started years ago, during the evolution of man. A life in connection with nature has undergone many changes. In this 21st century, Where life moves in rocket speed, the chain we had with our environment is shrinking day by day. From environment for our need to environ for our greed, life changes. We are depleting our natural resources. The balance in the ecosystem has been in a problem. The link between biotic and abiotic components is unstable. A state of inequilibrium is because of the invasion of mankind. Changes happening in nature are common unless it turns disastrous for nature. Climate change is the major issue prevailing today. It leads to one of the hot topics of the century ‘Global Warming’. The theme for 2019 World Environment Day was ‘Air Pollution’ itself denotes the severity of the situation. As industrialization took a new face, the number of industries rose rapidly. As a result the emission of greenhouse gases increases which leads to depletion of the ozone layer. As a result the temperature rises which paved the way to melting of glaciers resulting in an increase of sea level. Also even though our Earth is surrounded by 71% of water bodies, the presence of pure water is very rare. These pure sources are now polluted by the intervention of human beings. All these lead to the importance of Sustainable Development. According to Brundtland Report,”Sustainable Development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs”. This is done without creating a problem to nature. Many steps have been initiated by the Government to decrease pollution. Campaigns and events are organized as part of this.
