Hygiene For a Better Tomorrow Today man is in the path of development and growth. The world we see around us has changed so drastically that each and every one of our needs are available to us with a snap of a finger. But, amidst all these uprisings there has been several downfalls in human personality and behaviour as well. The major ones being our change in attitude towards nature and the maintenance of our personal hygiene. A few years back I made a trip to Delhi. The sights that I saw there completely disappointed me. The roads and streets have become the breeding ground of houseflies and mosquitoes. It was nearly impossible to walk across a street without bearing witness to the heaps of garbage dumped. This was the sight in a growing metropolitan city like Delhi. Like this all over the world we can see such unjust practices. In the path of development we forget our nature and keep on damaging it. For the construction of buildings and roads humans promote deforestation and other such activities which endanger the millions of species which occupy these places. But little do man know that he is digging his own grave. All the harmful activities we do towards nature will come back to haunt us one way or another. The greatest example is the recent air pollution in Delhi which put the city and its citizens in grave danger and difficulty. There has been millions of casualties as well, who have suffered from asthma and related disorders. This is an indicator of the decreasing immunity of man as well. In the past, our ancestors used to be so healthy that they were immune to almost every diseases that they led a happy and healthy life. But today, almost everyone around us is suffering lifestyle disorders like diabetes and hypertension. The unhealthy way of living and reluctance in maintaining personal hygiene are the root causes of this. But we humans fail to see the depth of the grave danger we are dragging ourselves into and keep on repeating the same mistakes again and again. Also at the same time mother nature has began responding to our activities. The great floods in Kerala, Landslides and droughts have become the response to all our crimes. If all this continues our world blooming with life will become a graveyard of sorrow and emptiness!. The issues I have mentioned earlier are just the tip of the iceberg. Today we are in the middle of a growing pandemic.
