Brief report on activities conducted by Mathematics Club 2021-22

As a part of our club inaugurations at school, the Mathematics Club of St. Ephrem’s H.S.S., Mannanam had conducted club inauguration ceremony on July 22nd 2021 on google meet platform. This day was considered for inauguration because July 22nd is considered as ‘Pi Approximation Day’. The club was formed mainly to help make the study of Mathematics more easy and appealing to students. This club is made up of students who have interest in mathematics. The objectivity of the Math Club is to bring together students’ interest in the ‘beauty’ and the ‘mystery’ of Mathematics. It proposes to undertake projects to develop analytical thinking and logical reasoning among the students. It would also serve as a platform to exchange creative ideas in the field and propagate various mathematical applications among the students, school sources said. At the outset, it was inaugurated symbolically by lightning of the lamp by Rev. Fr. James Mullasserry CMI Principal of Kuriakose Elias School, Mannanam to our dear headmaster Michael Cyriac Sir. The ceremony was about one and a half hours meeting. Addressing the students Rev. Fr. James Mullasserry CMI stressed the importance of mathematics in day today life. He briefed the participants about the life of Ramanujan and his achievements and motivated the students to be passionate about whatever they do in life. He also encouraged the students to develop their core competence and advised them to be proactive in all situations. As the day have it’s on importance our club had conducted a mathematics quiz having the title ' Pi Approximation Day Champion’. The competition have done separately as per 8th, 9th and 10th classes. After the quiz competition our dear headmaster Michael Cyriac Sir fortunately our school’s senior most Mathematics teacher delivered a wonderful message to our students of Mathematics Club. He motivated all our students and promised future support for the better upliftment of Mathematics Club activities. And after that headmaster have announced the winners of quiz competition and congratulated all the winners. And as a part of concluding the ceremony Lini Miss, senior most lady Maths teacher delivered vote of thanks. On 20th - 26th September 2021, ‘Math Expo 2k21’ have conducted. Most of the students had been participated for this exhibition. ‘Master Abi. S' have bagged the title ‘Mathematics Champion 2k21’. Items:- Geometrical chart, Number chart, Working models, Still models, Puzzles and Games. On the remembrance of the birthday of Sreenivasa Ramanuja, our club have conducted ‘National Mathematics Day Quiz Competition’ on 20/12/21. The quiz consists of topics from general maths, logic and reasoning, work of famous mathematicians etc. The quiz contains 2 rounds and about a total of 100 teams were participated.
