വി. പി. എസ്. ഹയർസെക്കന്ററി സ്കൂൾ വെങ്ങാനൂർ/അക്ഷരവൃക്ഷം/GIFT

GIFT Madhav, a class V student, was a very intelligent & kind-hearted boy. He was in the good books among his teachers & friends. He loved animals, birds & all creations of nature. One day, he asked his mother "Amma! God gas blessed us with the ability to speak. Why hasn't he given the same to animals and birds? She replied, they speak in their own language and express themselves to another in their own ways. From that day onwards, Madhav's desire to keep a pet grew stronger. One day, while he was returning from school, he saw a beautiful parrot lying near a bush. He found it was badly wounded. He took him in his had and said: my dear, plz allow me to take care of you and treat your wounds. And when you are alright I'll let you fly away. The parrot seemed to understand him and didn't make any attempts to break free. Madhav took him home, he dressed up his wounds and fed it well. Then he arranged a cage and put it inside the cage. He took proper care and ensured his safety. But, as time passed he had forgotten his promise to set him free. One year passed, he decided to celebrate it as his birthday and so he called his friends over. They came with many varieties of fruits and nuts to present him. But, sadly the parrot didn't even touch a single thing , but it remained gloomy. Madhav felt very bad. While he was analysing the various possibilities for his sadness, he dozed off. Suddenly, the parrot appeared in his dream. Can't you read my mind? Have you forgotten your promise of letting me free? Can't you understand that I too long for my freedom & have a beautiful family like you. What are you celebrating? My slavery? If you really care, plz set me free! Madhav woke up and felt very bad about this. He was so sad. He immediately went up to the parrot & conveyed his sadness and he took the cage outside and set him free. Seeing this his parents came out and said, this is the best gift you can ever give him. Madhav was really pleased by seeing the parrot happly flying towards the sky.
