PLEASURE OF READING Reading books provides as much pleasure as we do not get from any other activity. Blessings of the book are immense. Books are written by knowledgeable and learned persons. Books express the best experience and thoughts of the writers. Writers put in their books not only their own ideas and feelings but also what they observe and find in society. Francis Bacon, the Father of English prose, writes in one of his essays: "Reading maketh a full man." When we read books, we gather information, facts, and knowledge about the world that is still unknown to us. But all kinds of books do not provide us pleasure. Books that we read of our own choice and taste provide us pleasure and joys of life. Reading is the best joy a man can choose. When we have spare time the best way to make it useful is to read a book. But when selecting books one has to be careful. Books could be good or bad. Good books transport us to the world of wisdom and joy and free us from anxieties of day to day life. Reading of Good books makes our culture and mannered men. It is said that "In a world flooded with books only selective reading will offer the true pleasure that reading yield." Books are our friends who do not give up on us when we face many problems in life.
