While I am embracing

I hated when I smiled
I shook hands
When I was filled with scorn
My smiles were lined with derision
Now , while being shut up in a cage alone
I realise the value of love
I realise why the caged bird
never sing
I realise
No one is needed to lament over my demise
I realise my birthday parties
Needed myself alone
Now I learn to embrace
While keeping myself away
