ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION      'We cannot stay healthy in a world that is sick' ,Pope Francis reminded us in his recent Easter adress, echoing the truth that we are all interdependent,forming one human family with a moral responsibility to care for eachother and our common home. He reminded us of the sickness that harmed the planet and it's inhabitants and urged us to listen to the cry of our ailing planet. The coronavirus pandemic bears out the connection between human health and environmental health. As coronavirus pandemic unfolds across the globe, threatening lives and upending world economy it also had a profound impact on the environment. Due to the Coronavirus outbreak's impact on travel and industry, most of the regions in our country experienced a drop in air pollution. Reducing air pollution can reduce both climate change and Covid-19 risks. Methods to constrain the coronavirus such as quarantines and travel bans,resulted in reduction in carbon emission. And all those people staying at home seem to be a collective weight off the shoulders of the global environment in certain observable ways. Primary education is a crucial stage in the development of a person's behaviour, social awareness and selflessness. At school we learn values and behaviours that will stay with us throughout our adulthood and define who we are. That is what makes it so important to spark an interest in caring for and protecting the environment while children are at school. Our health and welfare is directly related to the status of the environment, it is important to teach kids about the pollution and its effects on the world around them. Environmental education is a process for life and should be included in every primary and secondary school syllabus as well as in other activities such as seminars, conferences and talks.The way it is taught in the classroom should be adapted to the age and maturity of the children and should be not only theoretical but also practical, entertaining and fun. It will help them more aware and conscious of environmental problems. There are plenty of activities that can be done in the playground or in a nearby park.children can go outdoors to learn about plants,trees,birds ,rivers and insects but also about environmental problems such as pollution ,gas emissions,energy consumption, recycling,good use of water and other important aspects. Today's children will be tomorrow's leaders to make crucial decisions for all of mankind. Future is in their hands!
