Corona Virus – A great threat to Mankind

The term coronavirus is now became very familiar to every one of us. The disease was first identified in December 2019 in Wuhan, the capital of China's Hubei province, and has since spread globally, resulting in the ongoing 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic. The outbreak of a pandemic disease now caused the entire world upset. The number of deaths or casualties arising from this disease is increasing tremendously day by day. As of 15 April 2020, more than 1.98 million cases have been reported across 210 countries and territories, resulting in over 126,000 deaths. More than 486,000 people have recovered. There are many different kinds Coronaviruses. A newly identified type is now called COVID-19. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. Common symptoms include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Other symptoms may include fatigue, muscle pain, diarrhea, sore throat, loss of smell, and abdominal pain.

According to current evidence, COVID-19 virus is primarily transmitted between people through respiratory droplets and contact routes. The virus is primarily spread between people during close contact, often via small droplets produced by coughing, sneezing, or talking. While these droplets are produced when breathing out, they usually fall to the ground or onto surfaces rather than being infectious over long distances. People may also become infected by touching a contaminated surface and then their face. The virus can survive on surfaces for up to 72 hours. Currently, there is no vaccine or specific antiviral treatment for COVID-19. Management involves treatment of symptoms, supportive care, isolation, and experimental measures. Diagnosis may be difficult with only a physical exam because mild cases of COVID-19 may appear similar to the flu or a bad cold. A laboratory test can confirm the diagnosis. Recommended measures to prevent infection include  Keeping Social distance  Frequent hand washing,  Maintaining physical distance from others.  Covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue or inner elbow,  Keeping unwashed hands away from the face.  The use of masks is recommended. WHO continues to emphasize the utmost importance of frequent hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette, and environmental cleaning and disinfection, as well as the importance of maintaining physical distances and avoidance of close, unprotected contact with people with fever or respiratory symptoms.
