On the side of a pond was a thicket. A very handsome peacock lived there. Every day the peacock would go to the bank of the pond .It would then stand there spreading out its feathers. Seeing his reflection in the clear water, he used to feel proud. So he would spread out his features before all who saw him and he behaved as if he was superior to them.
Once, a guest arrived near the pond. It was a white carne. When it saw the carne, the peacock wanted to make it also an admirer of him. He walked up to the carne which was catching fishes and introduced himself. "Friend, Iam a peacock. Let us live here as good friends . " Iam a crane.Thank you for your good -heartedness. "The carne was happy that he got a new friend . But in the convention that followed, the peacock began insulting the crane.
"Your feathers are plain white in colour . It is not as beautiful as mine .How sad!" said the peacock. The carne understood the vainglorious nature of the peacock. It said, " Using my feathers and wings, I can fly anywhere I want to. But you can't do that. If you cannot fly with your wings, the wings are useless however beautiful they May be."
Hearing It, the peacock felt ashamed. After this incident, the peacock never boasted before anyone.
