Cleanliness

Cleanliness is an important factor of life. It is one of the most important practices for a clean and healthy environment. It may be related to public hygiene or personal hygiene. The term cleanliness implies the absence of dust, dirt, garbage or waste and stains etc... It should be effective from childhood which can only be begun by each parent as a first and leading responsibility.

Sanitation and neatness play an important role in our day-to-day routine. It is important as it prevents dangerous diseases like Dengue, Typhoid, Hepatitis and other diseases caused by mosquito bite etc... Diseases like Jaundice, Cholera, Ringworm, Scabies and Trachoma etc... can be spread due to eating contaminated food, drinking contaminated water or living in an unhygienic condition.

We need to take necessary steps to accomplish this objective.
The steps as follows:

Dos and Don’ts” list can come in handy.

The do’s include :
• Shared responsibility – Everyone must share the responsibility to keep their surrounding clean and educate others about its importance. Parents, school and neighbuors all must proactively share it.
• Educate about germs – People should be enlightened about different strains of germs, in what atmosphere they thrive and the treatment regimen effective against them. The current education must change and include such lessons.
• Not all cleaning products are equality effective. Learning to separate them is essential.
• Celebrate festivals to help people realize the benefits of a perfectly clean environment.
• Promote hand hygiene – People should be made aware of the importance of clean hands. Teachers in school must regularly ask students to develop the habit to wash hands before their every meal.
• Hygiene related etiquettes –As mentioned before, students must learn to cover their mouth while they sneeze or a cough to prevent the germs to attack others. The don’ts are as important (if not more) as the do’s. Here’s a comprehensive list of them.

The don’ts The list beings with:
• Don’t get complacent – while creating paranoia is never justified, people should fear the consequences of pollution and filth. As long as the fear exists, people won’t get complacent and the campaign won’t lose footfalls.
• Zero tolerance - There should be absolutely no tolerance for environmentally hazardous substance such as polythene and plastic, often classified as segregate garbage.
• No slap on wrist – Heavy fine must be imposed on those who pollute the environment, a token punishment is not powerful enough to persuade them to think otherwise. On the other hand, people who are mature enough to understand the damage done by pollution on the environment and act upon the realization should be rewarded.
• Not cutting of trees – People should be discouraged from cutting down trees growing more and more trees for future benefit must be encouraged.
It is only when the do’s and don’ts are performed together, can cleanliness be assured.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is one of the most significant and popular missions to have taken place in India. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan translates to Clean India Mission. This drive was formulated to cover all the cities and towns of India to make them clean.   This campaign was administered by the Indian government and was introduced by The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. It was launched on 2nd October in order to honor Mahatma Ghandhi’s vision of a Clean India.

The student’s role in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is said to be vital in turning India clean and green as they are the emerging crops of nation. Being said that, they are the brand ambassadors of this noble cause. In terms of designing for student involvement, we believe this could be attainable:
• Students have to understand the importance of this mission and actively participate in cleaning their own space first.
• Students have to train their younger once to keep things clean.
• They can also visit rural areas and bring out the importance of mission and encourage them in contribution.
• Students have to recognize that Swachh begins at one’s home, school and surroundings to it.
• Students have to understand that they are that they can make changes and they are the once that make huge difference and should keep on going with the mission.

Cleanliness adds more value to personnel and social life. Since good habits are contagious, it is possible to teach children, neighbors and illiterates on the importance of cleanliness, by being a role model. With a collective effort, cleanliness and in turn, good health and happiness are within reach. People who maintain their hygiene and personal cleanliness become always happy as they develop positive thoughts which help to balance body, mind and soul.
