As T.M Varghese Memorial High School, which was started by Mr. N. Alexander Ex. MP in 1964 who hailed at Thanimoot, Kandiyoor with the aim of the all round development of the village called Vettiyar in Thazhakkara Grama Panchayat in Mavelikara Taluk of Alappuzha district, completes 60 years, let us understand here a brief history of it.
Sri. N. Alexander Sir, who was one of the first MPs from Kerala to come to the Constituent Assembly formed after India gained independence, established this school in Vettiyar village in memory of his maternal grandfather, Mr. T.M. Varghese, and was inaugurated by the then Congress President, Hon. Mr. Kamaraj Nadar on 27 September 1964.
Initially, the school started with only 8th grade. When the State Teacher Award winner Mr. G. Thomas Sir started the school as the Headmaster, Mrs. Anna S. Varghese and Mrs. N.K. Vijayamma served as teachers. Then the UP section also started functioning. With Mr. N. Alexander Sir as the Manager and his wife Mrs. Anna S. Varghese as the Headmistress, the school activities progressed. Then Mr. John Daniel Sir took charge as the Headmistress in 1978. After leading this institution towards progress for a long 18 years, he voluntarily retired in 1996. Even today, Mr. John Daniel Sir is deeply remembered in the minds of the residents of Vettiyar. In recognition of the services he provided in the educational sector of Vettiyar, the Vettiyar N.S.S. The Joint Committee was honored with the Palliyarakkavu Award 2018.
Then Mr. Samuel Koshy (1996-2000) Mrs. P.K. Annamma (2000-2002), Mrs. Saramma Oommen (2002-2006), Mrs. J. Sukumari (2006-2010), Mrs. Saramma Mathew (2010-2014) and Mrs. Jessy K. Baby (2014-2018), Mrs Suja Anee Thomas (2018-2020), Mrs Betty Kochuthresia Varghese (2020-2022)rendered commendable service as the Heads of our school. Now Smt. Sheeja U serves as the Headmistress of T.M.V.M.H.S.
After Mr. N. Alexander, Mrs. Anna S. Varghese, Mr. George Alexander became the managers, now Mr. Johnson Keepallil, is currently running the institution as the manager.
