CARBON FAMILY (കഥ )
Carbon : Hai Silicon, how are you?
Silicon :Fine. Eventhough we are in same family, not much recognized. Right?
Carbon :Yes. Say about your new programmes.
Silicon :Oh! me and my friend Germanium together , Started a new branch in physics called semi conductor. Now its development are fast. The evolution of computer technology, artificial intelligence, robotics etc are also rooted in me.
Carbon :So happy to hear this.I also, contributed to chemistry, a new branch called organic chemistry. Due to my different properties like catenation, I can contribute to different sub branches in
chemistry such as polymer chemistry, biochemistry etc...
Silicon : Oh! You are lucky. The whole world is existing because of you.You are the building element of all living and non- living things, animals, plants, etc. Carbon :You are also precious. Without you, our technological developments are not possible.
Carbon : Oh!Silicon, they are someone is coming. our relatives, Germanium, Tin, and Lead.
Carbon : Hello,Hey say about your new programme.
Germanium : What to say, Silicon and me are together work always. Nowadays we are used in transistors, integrated circuits,infrared spectroscopes, infrared ,detectors etc. I am also used
as a alloying agent as well as a catalyst nowadays .Almost all development in physics are now based on our contribution.
Carbon :Is it? Hey Tin, what bout you?
Tin :Oh!not so much as you. Most of my properties are useful in daily life. People use me to make
polish, plate steel cans etc and so on.
Silicon : And what about you Lead?
Lead: :Did you know about batteries.I am the major component in Lead batteries. People use me in radiation protection chamber, X-ray machines, nuclear reactors etc.
Carbon :You both are metals. Right? Silicon and Germanium are Metalloids. Oh!It is wonderful! I am a non-metal."Non metal, Metalloids, Metals "
