HEAL THE WOUNDS OF MOTHER NATURE The enormous diversity in earth baffle us. Variety of living organisms co-exist and make our earth an Eden. Trees that permit the entire species to exist including human are the miracles of nature and blessing to all living organisms. In the current scenario as the entire world and the human activities come to standstill, trees that are standstill always remembers us of our planet-EARTH. Trees the miracle workers of nature, plays vital role in sustaining lives organisms. The population size in the earth is increasing day by day and there is a tremendous pressure on natural resources. Without considering and conserving the environment, human beings keep on mismanaging the natural resources. Carbon emission have increased, the heat has intensified, and the entire humanity is in dilemma as the nature has started giving dangerous signals. The greedy men have cut down almost 46%of the trees in the earth. Forest have replaced by commercial plantations. This echoes a lot. And the ultimate result is the climatic instability which is a great threat to entire world. Non availability of clean air, water, food, soil, increase in temperature etc are the consequences of pollution . We have not attained sustainable development that provides quality life to present as well as future generations. Earth has started giving warning signals continuously -rise in temperature, vanishing species, flood, habitat destruction, drought and so on. The melting Antarctica, the burning Amazon rain forest, flood in kerala-these are all the huge warning bells which we must heed now. A pandemic can be controlled by having medicines, but what if the nature starts to react vigorously ! We need to stop mismanaging and plundering nature. Protecting environment is the need of hour. Planting tree is quick and easy remedy for the climatic instability and complexities caused by it. They provide to support life on earth. A tree alone produce up to 250 pounds of oxygen per year. The readily decrease the particulate matter, filter the air by absorbing various harmful gases. Through carbon sequestration they store away carbon dioxide and leaves cool the atmosphere through evapo-transpiration. They penetrate their roots deeper so that soil erosion can be prevented which in turn increases the water content in the soil. Thus tree planting has a huge impact on mitigating climate change. "WE CAN RESTORE ONE TRILLION NEW TREES IN DEGRADED REGIONS OF WORLD THAT WE ARE NOT CURRENTLY USING FOR AGRICULTURE OR URBAN LANDS "- says acclaimed ecosystem ecologist Tom Crowther. This words exhorts us of the need of planting trees. Also we should avoid plastic which is the most dangerous solid waste. Conservation of water resources and use of bio-pesticides decrease water and soil pollution. Using eco-friendly products, eco-friendly vehicles, proper management of wastes steadily decreases environment pollution. It is high time to come forward and conserve our nature. When human activities are controlled, pollution is less. To sustain our lives and that of other organisms we need to assist the earth to heal her wounds. Protecting nature, safe guard our lives and millions of diverse species. Let us overcome the challenges, protect our mother nature by restoring the entire diversity and attain sustainable development.
