'A Lockdown Morning Interlude'

Before the first rays of the sun
Made their way into my shelter
Filtering through the obstinate neighbour’s
Cherry bush now more a tree than a bush
I was awake,
A mission at hand;
A question of the superiority of my kind.
The wasps rested unsuspectingly
In their nest,carefully crafted
But alas,in a place too wrong:
On mine arched window dear.

I checked on my foes:
Ruthless creatures of no mercy,
Those beings dark as the night,
Gilded golden rings,
Complete with stings supreme.
Then,wielding my weapon:
Oh a very simple one,
I wasn’t too much into cold blooded murder you see,
And hence just a primitive stick let it be.

Stealth at my feet,
Steadily I edged on,
My hands worked artfully,
Prodding most expertly
At the home of my adversaries.
But alas!One second too long,
Did I use my piece of weaponry,
Twas a hornets’ nest indeed
In all its literality

Tried I did to defend my front
Soon realized the fact that I was
Outnumbered by my hostile foes
Refused to go down they did,
Valour and boldness at hand they stood,
The enemy moved together,
Towards me-In a single perfectly formed phalanx
Fight was out of the question now
Twas no longer a matter of victory
Fled I did clutching to mine life, precious
These arthropods were none to be trifled with.

The hornets happy with their feat
Buzzed a song triumphantly
Returned to what was left of
What once was their home;
The destroyer had struck
But their group had won.
They knew she’d be back.
But it hardly did matter
For now they’d already begun
Making what would be
Their next home-bigger,badder,better.
