PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE Immunization is an artificial method to make the defense against the attack of pathogens. "Edward Jenner" an English doctor started immunization in 1978 by introducing a vaccine against small Pox disease. Vaccines are the substances used for artificial immunization. Anyone of the component from dead or alive or neutralized germs neutralized toxins or cellular parts of the pathogens will be the components of each vaccine. These acts against antigens that stimulate the defense mechanism of the body. Then antibodies are formed against them and in the future, these antibodies protect the body from the pathogens responsible for the same disease. COVID-19 is a dreadful disease that we are facing now. It is an infectious disease caused by the Corona Virus. Thousands of people are dying nowadays by affecting COVID-19 in the world. the outbreak of the Corona Virus was first reported in China at Wuhan. It was declared as a global pandemic by the ' World Health Organisation' on 11th March 2020. COVID-19 disease spreads primarily through the droplets of saliva and discharge from the nose when an infectious person coughs or sneezes. This disease was mainly affected by the respiratory system of the human body. There is currently no vaccine to prevent Corona Virus disease. The best preventive method against Corona Virus is social distancing, washing hands regularly with soap and water and also with alcohol-based hand sanitizers, covering the nose and mouth with a mask, better to take healthy and hot foods than cool foods, stay at home and stay safe. When a disease affects the body, there will be a problem in the functioning of body organs. Medications will have o be administered and they could cure slowly. It is better to prevent disease rather than to try to find a cure for diseases after they occur. this is also why we try to vaccinate or inoculate against as many diseases as possible. It is at the level of prevention that most bioengineering efforts ought to be directed because prevention is better than cure. many things in life require careful thought and preparation. Sometimes we need to be extra cautious and take precautions rather than suffer consequences later. in our country vaccines are given against 11 life-threatening diseases. They are Tuberculosis, Tetanus, Polio, hepatitis B, Pneumonia, and Meningitis due to Haemophilus Influenzae, Type B measles, Rubella, Japanese Encephalitis, Rotavirus diarrhea. Gouri Nanda R.A.
