SPREADING HOPE It is around six hundred hours since we are under lock-down. During these days, observing all the happenings around me, I am now narrating the following story to you all. It was about 9:00 in the morning Asha was shouting in the top of her voice; calling out to her mother. "Mom, Mom... the chicks are out of the cage. They will catch the virus." Her mother heard the frantic cries of her daughter and rushed to see what happened. She consoled Asha saying it is always safe to keep the birds within the cage and helped her to get the birds inside the cage. Asha asked her mother if it is true that the virus could be transferred from humans to birds. Mother replied. "Well, there are a few cases being reported. And so it is always better to be careful than regret later." Then she wrapped her hands around Asha and told her that it is same with humans, we should maintain physical distance. Asha replied. "You mean... I'm not supposed to speak even to my friends." Mother replied. "I didn't say social distancing, I said physical distance. We should maintain a distance of 1 meter from the next person. There is no problem in calling your friends and always try to keep contact with them. Enquire about their well being, see what you can do for them. You may also encourage and comfort them." Asha ran to the terrace to call her friend Tina. Tina is living a few kilometres away from Asha's home. Her apartment has been sealed as few of the residence are put under house isolation. "Senorita Senorita" Hearing the ringtone Tina picked up her smartphone. It is Asha. "What's up?" Enquired Tina. "You forgot what we had discussed yesterday." Asha said. "Oh! I remember. Concerning our decease detectives. They had christened their gang of four members covid detectives." Asha asked Tina if she called Alaya and Deepika to discuss their new initiative. Tina replied. "Yes, you are the corona slayer." Asha exclaimed in a loud voice "WHAT...!" "Yes, you heard right," Tina replied, "You are the corona slayer. And what do we call you?" "You shall call me Tik Tok Tina and my duty is to maintain all the social media platform and use the medium to persuade not just inform." "What about the other two and their roles?" "Alaya is to be called deceased detective and Deepika is to be called Immune Deepika." Asha shouted over the phone. 'My job is to slay the invading virus and I'm the slayer.' Asha asked Tina how are they going to meet and discuss their mission. Tina suggested that they all meet on zoom app in the evening. It is around 6:00 pm. it is the time for the CM's daily briefing. Asha was glued on her TV seat. When a message flashed on her mother's phone, she grabbed the phone only to find that Tina invited her on the zoom app. The others joined with the conversation as the four were discussing a fifth window opens. And the detectives were startled. It is the avengers, they are crying out for help to save their Nation from the pandemic. Iron Man is a first to speak, he on to detail how his superpower nation is no match for the virus, and they are on bent knees, now wants the Corona directive to rescue them. Asha, yes the corona slayer no words at first. Being so excited, She can't find the words to speak. At last She stammers and begins. "Well Iron man, you must be aware that our small state has been successful in controlling the spread of the virus due to our Unity, planning and integrity of our states leadership. She now asked Tik Tok Tina to list out to the Avengers about what they have to do to save their great Nation. Now Deepika joined in and asked Avengers to educate them about the details. Captain America asked Alaya if they travel together is there any chance of the virus spreading. The Corona slayer Asha interrupted and assured the Avengers, "Don't be afraid we have to maintain a physical distance of 1 meter between us." The Avengers agreed and they all began their journey. At first, they saw a family who is practicing physical distancing. Asha called out the family and asked them how they kept their family safe. A boy on seeing the Avengers leaped up with joy and said, "I'll tell you. We wash our hands with soap and water. We also cough into our elbows if we don't have a hand kerchief. And We greet one another with Namaste, instead of hand shakes. Immediately, Black Panther asked "What do we do if we live in a very crowded city for in our country not everyone is staying at home." Deepika jumped in and said that they were safe when they were inside. She also went on to explain about how when one is sick they should keep away from their family and keep everyone safe. Then Alaya joined and she said "We children are stuck at home seeing your movies." Iron man thanked her. Alaya replied, "we may be stuck at home but we are safe at home." "We play games, cook, spend time in our garden and have meals together. We dance and sing, We read books and keep learning with our teachers giving us guidance." The Avengers smiled. But at the same time there was a sudden change of expression on their faces we are losing lives daily. The corona detectives comforted them and said them to regain confidence. They asked them to imagine about a safe place. A safe place where everyone will find peace and safety. The Avengers asked them where they could find safety. To that the detective replied. "Well, When everyone cares for one another we are in a safe place. When one citizen cares for the others, he or she will naturally follow all the instructions our authorities asks us to follow." At this the Avengers were very excited. They thanked the detectives and soon the screen went dark. Asha was rubbing her eyes in disbelief. Suddenly she heard her mother shouting at her "Feed the chicks, its late. And do not forget to wash your hands."
