Locked in

I sat alone beside the window sill,
on the course of a dull day;
My gaze wandered lazily till,
it stumbled on the deserted lane.

 It's been long since I knew this place,
 A crowded street It's always been;
 But now not even a single trace,
 of human or animals seen.

 With loud honking of speeding Cars,
 and busy chattering people;
 The shrill voice of street vendors,
 that beckons the needy ones.

 Even the trace of small children,
 on their way back home from school;
 Nor those cheerful giggling as they run-
 and splash in the muddy pools.

 But now every time I peep outside,
 to see those evening scenes;
 All I see is an empty Roadside,
 For three weeks or more, it seems.

 I wonder why I Suddenly felt-
 a sense of pride in me;
 For all these troubles could not end-
 the fire in you and me.

Stand united for the ‘Greater Good,’
 it's not just you and me,
 with a kind bond of Brotherhood,
 that care and share - that’s what I mean.

The sweet smell of wet earth,
and the lovely chirp of birds;
The squeak of little squirrels-
 on my backyard trees;

All these “ new born” earthly beauties-
that I see around me these days;
reminds me of the moral duties,
towards our mother nature due...
