Green City Clean City
The term ‘Green City’ refers to a city that’s green all around-that of plants, trees etc. While the term ‘Clean City’ refers to a city that's free from environmental pollution. Both these terms are proportional. A city that has many trees planted all over will be free from environmental problems as trees helps to purify air and maintain the cycle of nature. When a city is kept clean it attract tourists and visitors and earns a prominent place in the lives of its citizens. Planting trees depends on our interest but it contribute towards maintaining the ecological balance in nature. Clean India Green India When the last tree is cut and the last fish killed, the last river poisoned, then you will see that you can’t eat money- John May The Clean-India Program India has a population of over 1.3 Billion, of which almost 300 million lives in and around 600 town and cities. Unfortunately, as a result of stressed environmental conditions, most of these towns and cities are unable to cope with the rapid pace of urbanisation. Water pollution, unavailability of drinking water, inadequate sanitation, open dumping of waste, less forest cover are some of the related problems. These have serious consequences on the health of the people and also an economic burden to the country. This situation demand immediate attention in the management of rapid growing urban environmental problems. The clean India program aims to mobilise community responsibility for environmental assessment and improvement in all major towns and cities of India through schools and NGO’s linked with government, business, academic and other institutions. Mahatma Gandhi had a revolutionary vision about this concept. Let us work together for the success of this mission.
