Bamboos are of notable economic and cultural significance in South Asia, South East, and East Asia, being used for building materials, as a food source, and as a versatile raw product. Bamboo like a wood is a natural composite material with a high strength to weight ratio useful for structures. Bamboo is one of the most important nature’s substitute for the endangered rainforest hardwoods. It is a quick growing, versatile, non timber forest product whose rate of biomass generation is unsurpassed by any other plants. This plant naturally pesticide resistant and helps to rebuild eroded soil. This can grow 2ft in one day. It also absorbs a high amount of carbon dioxide and emits high levels of oxygen. Bamboo products are eco-friendly as long as they haven’t been chemically processed, which most bamboo clothing fabrics have been. Bamboo as a plant is naturally pest resistant, 100% bio degradable and regrows to its adult size in 3 to 5 years. Bamboo is a grass because it falls into the same morphological parameters botanists list for grasses like structure, growth and reproductive etc. Bamboo is stronger than steel in regards to tensile strength. It surpasses steel with a noticeable lead at 28000 pounds. There are several advantages of bamboo that makes it a good building material. The versatile quality of bamboo makes it a good material for flooring, roofing, concrete reinforcement, scaffolding (used in Hong Kong for building skyscrapers), piping and for walls. Bamboo can be split into two general types. Running and Clumping. Clumper Bamboo, Fargesia Bamboo, Guadua Bamboo, Gaint Bamboo, Chilean Bamboo, Runner Bamboo, Arrow Bamboo, Dwarf Green Stripe Bamboo, Black Bamboo, River Cane Bamboo are some different types of Bamboo. Bamboo leaves and wood are crushed to make pulp and this is used to make newsprint paper.Leaves of bamboo are Anti biotic and Anti diabetic. Bamboo leaf is a good medicine for many health problems. Dry leaves when they fall on the ground act like a mulch creating a covering to the soil. By the help of bamboo we can make varieties of furnitures, bridges etc....And the bamboo twigs are useful to make brooms, cloths, bamboo twig fence etc...The all parts of a bamboo plant is useful.
