COVID-19

Our World has come to a standstill in the past few weeks, due to outbreak of the pandemic COVID-19. A pandemic is a disease which have crossed the limits of continents and have spread across the planet. Many pandemics have hit us throughout the course of history such as cholera, plague, smallpox, etc. and have claimed about 300-500 million lives together.

Novel Corona virus disease (COVID-19) emerged in

China in November 2019.It causes a severe respiratory illness, SARSCOV2(Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus 2).It is similar to SARS virus which attacked China during 2002. The actual origin of COVID-19 is not yet known. But it has spread across the globe within no time.

It spreads through direct contact or through secretions.

It enters the human cells and multiplies by using its own protein heads and causes the disease. Most people affected with COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recovers without any specific treatment. But elderly people with chronic medical problems are likely to develop severe illness.

At present there is no confirmed vaccine or treatment

for this disease. But we can protect ourselves from this virus by taking simple yet effective measures such a handwashing and social distancing. By keeping a distance from one another we are not only protecting ourselves but our family and community also. In the face of the worst global crisis of modern times, lets unite by staying apart.
