Locked in
I sat alone beside the window sill,
on the course of a dull day;
My gaze wandered lazily till,
it stumbled on the deserted lane.
It's been long since I knew this place,
A crowded street It's always been;
But now not even a single trace,
of human or animals seen.
With loud honking of speeding Cars,
and busy chattering people;
The shrill voice of street vendors,
that beckons the needy ones.
Even the trace of small children,
on their way back home from school;
And those cheerful giggling as they run-
and splash in the muddy pools.
But now every time I peep outside,
to see those evening scenes;
All I see is an empty Roadside,
For three weeks or more, it seems.
I wonder why I Suddenly felt-
a sense of pride in me;
For all these troubles could not end-
the fire in you and me.
Stand united for the ‘Greater Good,’
it's not just you and me,
with a kind bond of Brotherhood,
that care and share - that’s what I mean.
The sweet smell of wet earth,
and the lovely chirp of birds;
The squeak of little squirrels-
on my backyard trees;
All these “ new born” earthly beauties-
that I see around me these days;
reminds me of the moral duties,
towards our mother nature due...
