| | വയനാട്ടിലെ എടക്കൽ ഗുഹക്കടുത്തുള്ള കുപ്പക്കൊല്ലി, ആയിരംകൊല്ലി, എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ നിന്ന് ചെറുശിലായുഗത്തിൽ ജീവിച്ചിരുന്ന മനുഷ്യർ വെൾലാരം കല്ലഉകൊണ്ട് നിർമ്മിച്ച ആയുധനങ്ങൾ കണ്ടെടുത്തു. ഈ തെളിവ് മൂലം അയ്യായിരം വഷം മുൻപ് വരെ ഈ പ്രദേശത്ത് സംഘടിതമായ മനുഷ്യവാസമുണ്ടായിരുന്നതായി ചരിത്രകാരന്മാർ അഭിപ്രായപ്പെടുന്നു. നവീന ശിലായുഗ സംസ്കാരത്തിന്റെ നിരവധി തെളിവുകൾ വയനാടൻ മലകളിൽ നിന്നും ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. സുൽത്താൻ ബത്തേരിക്കും അമ്പലവയലിനും ഇടയ്ക്കുള്ള അമ്പുകുത്തിമലയിലുള്ള രണ്ട് ഗുഹകളിൽ നിന്നും അതിപുരാതനമായ ചുവർചിത്രങ്ങളും, ശിലാലിഖിതങ്ങളും ചരിത്രഗവേഷകർക്ക് ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.എടക്കൽ എന്ന സ്ഥലത്തുള്ള ഗുഹാ ചിത്രങ്ങൾ രചിക്കപ്പെട്ടത് ചെറുശിലായുഗ കാലഘട്ടത്തിലാണ് എന്നാണ് ചരിത്രകാരനഅയ ഡോ.രാജേന്ദ്രൻ കരുതുന്നത്. |
