Importance of Being Hygienic

'Cleanliness is next to Godliness'. This proverb gives us an important lesson that is the biggest quality a person should have is cleanliness or maintaining hygiene . Cleanliness is the property of being clean or habitually clean. We all know that everyone should have discipline in them. Just like that keeping ourselves neat and tidy along with our surroundings is very important in life.

Maintaining hygiene means not just keeping our belongings neatly or keeping ourselves clean. It means that along with maintaining personal hygiene, we should also keep our near surroundings and environment very neatly. We should have physical, mental and social hygiene. This way, by keeping our body and mind clean we are leading ourselves to a better and healthier future. Maintaining physical hygiene means that we should keep our body tidy. That is , washing our hands before and after food , trimming our nails regularly, washing hands with soap after using toilet, wearing washed and ironed clothes, bathing regularly, brushing teeth twice daily etc forms the basic deeds to be performed as a part of maintaining physical hygiene.

Maintaining mental hygiene means keeping our mind clean. That is not to think about bad and unwanted things, thinking positively, using our time for good and useful purposes, using good words while talking etc. This will help us to be a good person and also confident during arduous times. Along with this we should also be hygienic socially too. That is, not polluting our surroundings, caring about our neighbours and others, avoiding those activities which would create disturbances for others etc is a part of maintaining social hygiene. If we have these qualities in us, then of course we will gain discipline which would help us achieve success in life.

So, maintaining cleanliness should become a part and habit of life. While doing something with hygiene and discipline we will be able to concentrate on the work doing without losing attention. Due to lack of hygiene, a lot of people get affected with different types of diseases or even other problems. By keeping our body and surroundings clean and eating healthy food, we develop high immunity which can resist diseases. Keeping our belongings neat and organized , eating clean food and not wasting or polluting water etc also helps in this a lot.

Nowadays, we are facing a dreadful disease called Corona (covid 19). To overcome this disease our government has instructed remedial measures and introduced lockdown. This is a good time to practice cleanliness. Washing our hands with soap frequently is the best method to prevent this virus. Also social distancing is another important way to get rid of this contagious virus. Personal hygiene should be a part of everyone's life which will help prevent not only Corona , but any virus and help us be fit and healthy. Also prevention of breeding of disease carriers like mosquitos should be ensured.

To lead a stable, healthy and secure life, cleanliness should be adopted. It is our duty and responsibility towards the society and country. What a golden moment it would before our country, when every Indian citizen is completely hygienic !! So, one can start from oneself. By being hygienic ourselves, we can become a model and inspiration for others and coming generations by which we can bring up a healthy society for future.
