Let's rethink what environment need ?

Nowadays humanity faces numerous amount of diseases. Environmental pollution is the major factor that pulls us to these diseases. It is dangerous and hazardous. Soil, water and air are equally polluted these days. As population increases cities emerges and enlarges, and in turn pollution also increases. Emergence of new industries, vehicles etc. also paves the way to pollute the environment. Wastes are dumped in every nooks and corner across cities. These problems cannot be solved by the emergence of hospitals and production of medicines. In fact establishment of hospitals doesn't mean that the city has good health care. This means that citizens are less aware of their health. We misinterpret so. When it comes to environment related issues it is found that our earth is loosing its biodiversity, wildlife as well as habitat. Day to day we discuss about different kinds of pollution such as soil, water, air and so on. Nature is vigorous these days. We know our state Kerala is facing huge destruction due to floods by the monsoon rains last two years. Landslides are now common. The capacity of the mountains to hold the soil or in short soil erosion has become the villain of these two floods. When we take a look into the medical sector, we see new and new viruses that are contagious and dreadful. All these problems are directly or indirectly related to the environmental issues we are facing today. The water level of the oceans are rising day by day because of the melting down of artic icecaps. Isn’t it a big thing to discuss? But we human beings are not finding a solution to these problems. We are busy making weapons and enhancing trade deals for the future. What if there is a good future world to live? How good it is to you when you hear your house is on fire, or the water in your house is contaminated? <
Every year the world leaders gather at some where on earth to discuss about the climate and environmental issues. The last one was in USA named UN Climate Action Summit which was organized by United Nations. World leaders gathered there but nothing happened, effective measures were taken ,but who will implement it. There comes a question? The work of the environmentalists in dealing with the environmental problems are appreciable. Greta Thunberg, a Swedish environmental activist was the icon of the last year. She skipped her school life and wanted to fight against the climate change. She quoted “No one is too small to make a difference”. Yes, everyone can make a difference in some way or the other. Moreover, when it comes to India things are not different. Although India is famous for its wide variety of species and biodiversity, it is also home for the most polluted city in the world. The national capital has been recorded the most polluted city in the world with the highest AQI. Delhi’s air contains a huge amount of hazardous sulphur dioxides and carbon dioxide. These harmful gases causes serious respiratory diseases such as asthma, bronchitis etc. As we all know the world is now fighting against deadly novel corona virus which originated simply from a typical flesh market in Wuhan, China. This virus is now causing the death of over a lack of people across the continents. Everyone is in quarantine and stuck at home. The world is now very much aware of the importance of clean environments and personal hygiene. Doctors as well as other medical workers are in the rush of saving lives. They recommend us to wash hands properly and also keep social distance and personal hygiene. <
During the quarantine period of COVID-19, notable changes were seen across the globe. Reports say that the pollution rate of prominent cities in the world has minimised to a larger rate. The waters in the canals of Venice have cleared up. The river Ganga and Yamuna has regained its purity after a long time. The most polluted city of the world is now breathing its best air after many years. Dolphins are now visiting ports of Italy and many other countries. Many endangered animals such as Small Indian Civet and Nilgai can be seen now in the roads in India. The longest Himalayan ranges is now visible from Punjab after 30 years as the smoke in the atmosphere decreased. All this shows a good hope. The environment is now recycling and cleaning itself and returning to its beauty. “Something is better than nothing”when it comes to environmental pollution, solutions also must be discussed. Its our responsibility to do something to our environment. Government and other authorities should interfere in these matters and establish conservation programs to protect our ecosystem. Other solutions includes awareness of environmental issues among the people. The people must be aware about the consequences of climate change and environmental destruction. We must conserve our home Earth. Moreover, we the human beings must also remember that we are not only the livings organisms here. This is home for many animals and birds. Whenever we try to do anything to our environment we are not moral to them. We are taking over their habitat. In short, there must be a coexistence.
