THE ENVIRONMENT
All living things depend on the environment of survival. So the protection and preservation of environment is a matter of great importance. Unlike other living things man's existence causes a burden on environment. It is rich with many resources. Man lives on nature,exploits it and gives nothing in return. In the case of other living things they have a give and take relationship with nature.
During the last two centuries man has made tremendous progress in all the fields .But all this has been at the expense of the environment .The exploitation of nature has ruined it beyond repair. Many unscientific works done by human for their welfare should lead environment pollution. These works lead to the unbalance in the ecosystem. The cutting of trees, burning of plastics, throwing wastes in to water resources ,smokes from vehicles causes environmental pollution. The air which is polluted with harmful gases leads to many health problems and depletion of ozone layer.Polluted water would kill all aquatic organisms, the acidification of soil ,scarcity of food ,scarcity of water.
Deforestation,increase the temperature of the atmosphere,melting of ice in the Antarctic region . Floods and many islands became under the water were the results of environmental pollution. Floods in Kerala in 2018 and 2019 are example for this . Destruction of environment cause the destruction humans itself .So, we should protect our environment by preserving forest,water bodies and prevent smokes going to atmosphere.Prevent throwing of wastes in water, prevent the use of chemical fertilisers etc. Man has little awareness of the nature of environment even today. He is still in confusion about the relationship, he has to maintain with nature .
Some argue that protection of environment should not be at the expense of human progress. However it is logical to think that exploitation at this rate definitely be harmful to the environment. If we shouldn’t take care of our planet it would changes to a desert land one day. That will be the the greatest injustice towards the generation to come. The present thought less destruction of environment should therefore be stopped immediately. Earth is common for all .
