CORONA VIRUS According to WHO, A variant disease of corona virus has caused pneumonia out break in Wuhan, China. The new corona viruses are different from previously discovered human corona viruses and further understanding of the virus requires more scientific research. Before knowing more about corona virus we have to understand how it looks like. Corona was named for it’s crown like spikes on it’s surface. “Corona’’ in Latin means halo or crown.
Till date there are six types of corona viruses that can infect the humans but the first presence of corona was first observed in the mid 1960’s. These deadly viruses are mainly calssified into four they are;
• 229E {alpha corona virus}
• NL63{alpha corona virus}
• OC43{beta corona virus}
• HKU1{beta corona virus}
These cause mild to moderate upper respiratory tract illness. Like common cold. While the corona viruses that have known to frequently cause severe symptoms are
• MERS-COV {the beta corona viruses that causes
Middle East Respiratory Syndrome or
MERS}
• SARS-COV {the beta corona viruses that causes
severe acute respiratory syndrome or SARS}
Some corona viruses also affects animals like cats, dogs, monkeys and other rodents.
Another serious problem is that since the corona virus antibodies don’t last for a very long time , a person can catch the virus again within months. Also, the antibodies for one strain of the corona virus may be useless against other strains. The other deadly capability of this virus is the means of transmission. The most frequent carrier of these virus are humans itself . These viruses spread from one infected individual to other individuals. At the first stage virus spread all around cities then to the countries then to the whole countries ,then to world wide....
the only way to prevent the spreading is to follow the government measures and other things like • use a tissue or napkin while coughing or sneezing because it can also spread through air . There for it is also an airborne disease • avoid close personal contact such touching or shake hands • avoid touching an object or surface with the virus on it , then touching your mouth, nose or eyes before washing your hands • rarely there is a chance to spread through fecal contamination. This is a serious epidemic because there is no know cure for this. The scientists and doctors are still performing tests to develop a vaccine against corona. Therefore the only thing we can do against this virus is to follow the government rules and measures.
