Raghav's Hard Work
Raghav looked at the contract in front of him, his face filled with joy as he signed the paper-ink trailing from the pen. “I expect the manuscript to be done next month, do you think that’s fair?”.He nodded his editor adjusted the wooden pin keeping her hair up and walked out. He still couldn’t believe it. All this hard work had finally paid off for him, months trying to reach out to editors he finally got a deal with Ms.Mareena, who was known for leading his writers to success. Starting up his car, he felt the rain hit his skin. Looking at the cloudy sky for a moment, he slipped into the driver’s seat. He felt tired recently and it was making him slack of, he was plannig to keep in sow he could have enough stamina and energy to make the manuscript the best he could. As he drove, he was also lost in thought. He felt like he was choking- he hoped it was a temporary thing because it was worrying with all the news about the virus going around. Flash back to the gathering he took part in a week ago, sweat formed on his forehead. He hadn’t received a call yet, it was impossible. As he struggled to breath, swerved of the road. Everything that happened next was flashes of light, sirens, just a tabs attacked him and he struggled to move. He heard the talking of doctors outside. He realised what as happening and wondered why life had to throw this at him now. At the family home, the lady who raised Raghav, was sitting teary-eyed as she placed the phone down. “Oh!” My god No No she breathed heavily and sobbed her husband comforting her ‘Ambika?’ what’s wrong dear?. Her husband asked and she gulped. “Our son...Our...”. She stumbled around her words, not knowing how to phrase it properly. Her husband pulled her in closer and hugged her. “What about Raghav? What happened?” Her husband asked again and she sighed. “Our son... has....”. he suddenly got the big picture and stumbled up. “No! We need to him now!”. She grabbed his hand. “The doctors said it was better us to not visit him”. He gambled and felt like breaking something. “He is our son!” We have all the right visit him. The youngest daughter of the caredelle family stood at the door, her hair still wet from the shower she just had. “Uh- what’s going on”?. The fourteen year old as the curiously. The parents both turned to her and laughed nervously. “It’s nothing”. The mother said and she squinted at them. “All that yelling didn’t seen like nothing, what’s going on”?. She repeated her question and they kneeled down in front of her. “Dear you see your brother., just got in a bit of trouble it’s nothing big”. She smiled softly. “What trouble?”. The screeched causing them both to flinch”. Do you know about the virus that going around?”. The daughter got the whole picture and screamed. “Is he going to be okay?” “He might die!”. The father looked at her. I’m very sorry dear. He said and ended the conversation. This was a big loss to the family and Raghav. His hard work all going into waste.
