ENVIRONMENTAL HYGIENE AND IMMUNISATION
The word environment means not only the natural surroundings that are air, water, plants and animals used for food but also shelter, transportation mode and all the technological products including pollutants and waste meterials which will affect health. Importance of environmental hygiene is so importants nowadays because emphasis changes in the fields of energy, economies and technology.
Environmental hygiene can be looked at from two aspects, viz, hygiene at household's level and hygiene at the community level.Good - quality housing is a key element for ensuring a healthy community. Poor housing can lead to many health problems and is associated with infectious diseases(such as tuberculosis) stress and depressions. Every one should therefore have access to good - quality housing and a pleasant home environment that makes them happy and content. Specific aspects of housing quality include ventilation, lighting, general cleanliness of homes, overcrowding in homes, etc.
According to the World Health Organization (W. H. O) good health is not merely the absence of diseases it is also a reflection of the social and mental well-being of people in a community.
The word hygiene means that a series of practices performed to preserve health. In the view of World Health Organization (W. H. O) hygiene is defined as a condition and practices that help to maintain health and prevention of the spread of diseases.
Personal hygiene refers to maintaining the body's cleanliness. Many people think hygiene in a narrow sense but hygiene in a broad term. It includes such personal habits choice is as how frequently to take a shower or bath, wash hands, trim fingernails and wash clothes. It also includes attention to keeping surfaces in the home and workplace, including bathroom clean and pathogen free.
