Overview

This high school, established in 1977, is a well known educational institution under the supervision of Jam-e-yyath. It is designed to bring up a God fearing and moral generation in the society. In addition to it, the institution is aimed to impart religious and spiritual knowledge besides modern education. Thus, to develop a moral and pious society. Since twenty five years, the former students of this school is involved in various social and religious activities in and out of India. 18 out of 20 SSLC batches till now scored 100% success. Besides this, the students have a record of 100% success continuously in the IOSC examinations conducted by the MAJLISU-THA'ALEEMIL-ISLAMI. There are various Clubs like science club and campus service wing (CSW) to develop the students' caliber. Students are also given trainig in I.T fields with the help of a well equipped Computer Lab. Orphans studying in the school can avail all the facilities given to other students free of cost. The under privileged students are allowed a fee-concession. Presently the school is aided by the Kerala state Government .The school has classes starting from LKG to X th standard.

History

Edayur, a village four kilometers away from Valanchery in Malappuram district, is popular to Muslims as the birth place of V.P. Muhammad Ali Haji, better known as Haji Sahib, a renowned Islamic scholar and social worker. He was the person responsible for the present Islamic development in Kerala. He was fascinated by the teachings of Maulana Syed Abul Ala Maududi,one of the greatest scholars and reformers of the twentieth century. As we know the Islamic knowledge had been misinterpreted then, certain devoted persons headed by Haji Sahib planned to reform the society in the right direction.They decided to start an educational institution to train muslims in both Islamic and modern education. The architectsof the Islamic Madrasa started in June 1952 were K.M.Abdul Ahad Thangal, V.P.kunhayumu, K. Kunhayumu, K.P. Pookoya Thangal. The institution was housed in the aracanut godown belonged to V.P. Kuttimoideen Haji. It was inaugurated by Haji Sahib in June 1952. The first teachers were K.M. Abdul Ahad Thangal and Pookoya Thangal.

On 2nd October 1959 Haji Sahib left this world, and the task was continued on the supervision of a seven member committee headed by Abdul Ahad Thangal. The institution was shifted to "Kammar Kunnu" in Edayur,previously owned by Haji Sahib. The Silver jublee celibration of the Madrassa was conducted on 5th and 6th of April 1978. The plan suggested by A.K. Abdul Khadir Maulavi to start a seperate girls section-Madrassathul Banath- did not succeed. However, the Madrasa was elevated to higher educational institution which was named as Islamic Residential School (I.R.S.).

K.M. Abdul Ahad thangal was the founder member and architect of Islamic Residential School which came into existence in 1980.On 15th october, the hostel buiding was inaugurated by Abul Jalal Maulavi, a great Islamic scholar and academician who was force behind many modern educational institutions in Kerala and Gulf. In the beginning the school conducted classes from 8 to 10 (high school). The students were trained to appear private S.S.L.C. examination. Upper Primary section was started in 1989 and lower Primary in 1995. With this achievement the institution developed into a modern educational institution.

Facilities

  • Magazines and Newsletter

"PULARI" To improve and encourage the budding artists and writers among the students a yearly hand written magazine namely 'PULARI' is released each year. "DHWANI" DHWANI is a wall magazine released in an outstanding manner each month.

  • CAMPUS MASJID

To perform the daily prayers there is a spacious and well ventilated mosque within the campus

  • Library & Reading Room

We have a well equipped library with books and periodicals on various subjects and topics. Students are allowed to use the library and reading room as per school rules. Library plays the role of an information centre and center of exchange of ideas. Books are available for reference and borrowing. Our periodical collection and other magazines are highly useful to students as well as teachers. Our spacious reading room provide reading atmosphere to students. It is well furnished and always kept very neat and tidy. The silence and discipline to be maintained is supervised by custodians.

  • Computer Education

Computer education begins right from the 7 th class onwards and continues up to class 10 th. In the lower classes, computers are also used as means to learn other subjects

  • Transportation

The school has few buses to the use of students and teachers. This provision gather the students residing at far off places. The transportation fee is collected along with the school fees.

  • Counseling & Guidance
Students are given timely guidance and counseling, and special care is given to weak students. Skill development and career development are also treated as a part of our educational system. We are fully equipped to cater the educational needs of the students.
