History in Nutshell
Govt. L.P.School, Kumaramkary, also known as Malayalam School, is the first school established in the villages of Paral (Paral was the part of Veliyanad panchayath in those days), Kumaramkary, Valady,Narakathra, and Kunnamkary. As per the records available in the school 2012 is the centenary year of the school.
The school began in the 'Oottupura' of 'Kumaramkary, Sree Dharma Sastha Temple'.The school was later shifted to the government revenue land where the first veliyanad village office was functioning. Before, it was the place where the divan of 'Thekkumkoor' dynasty collected tax, known as 'Nelleduppu Kendram'.Later, the school building was built acquiring 3 cents of land donated by Kumaramkary Devasom on an exemption of 'karamtheeruva'.
'Kandapilla Sir', an eminent personality belonging to an ancient feudal family, 'Madathani', is the founder of the school. He also served as a teacher in the school. Some former students of the school remember Kandanpilla sir rowing to all the houses in and around kumaramkary and picking up students in the morning to the school and later dropping them back in the evening.
