HS വിഭാഗത്തിൽ 50 ഡിവിഷനുകളിലായി 2381 വിദ്യാർത്ഥകൾ പഠിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. ഒാരോ ക്ളാസ്സിലെയും തരം തിരിച്ചുള്ല വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളുടെ എണ്ണം താഴെ കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

School Results

We are proud to say that 19 of our students secured full A+ and two of them (Seethal A.D. & Athira Darsana) have attained full score of 600/600; 12 students have scored 5A+s in their second year exam. The first year students too have performed well with 10 of them bagging full A+.

School elections

School elections were held – Anjali J. Nair (B2) and Radhika G.S. (A1) were elected Chairperson and Vice- Chairperson respectively.

Merit evening

Merit evening or the annual prize distribution ceremony was held to honour those students of the batch 2016-17 who have made the school proud with their brilliant efforts not only in the academic field but also in the co curricular areas.

Feast Day

The school Feast Day, too, was held in a modest way. A Holy Mass was celebrated for the community and later ‘payasam’ was distributed to the staff and students of the school.

Annual Cultural Day

The annual cultural day was conducted on 24 Feb. 2018 in which the retiring teachers were honoured for their dedicated service to our school. The students displayed their talents through various entertaining programmes.

STUDENT ENRICHMENT PROGRAMMES

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy goes the proverb. Various co-curricular activities are held under different clubs to develop the student physically, morally, socially and mentally and to have skills in co- scholastic areas. Science club conducted quiz competitions. Eco and Biodiversity club, along with NSS and Guides, organized a two- day Nature camp at Thenmala. Souhrida club conducted a skit competition for the first year students based on life skills. It held “Amma Ariyan” – a seminar for the mothers to guide them in dealing with adolescents. Literary club coordinated ‘Thought for the day’ to be presented in morning assemblies. Career guidance club organized various career oriented programmes for the students of various streams. To ensure that our students are well equipped with the knowledge to face any challenge, we had focussed sessions on special topics like disaster management (Fire and rescue dept.), health and hygiene for girls, (Dr Bindhu Mary Francis), career counselling, leadership skills (Mr Nandalala), career planning and development (Mr Anil Bose), awareness on traffic rules (SI Shanavas). To build up the future citizens with social values, we insist on value education sessions. On Fridays, Rev.Sr. Mathew Mary and Rev.Sr. Emma Mary engaged the Catholic students instilling the values of Christian life while the Chaplin from the Marthoma church took up moral science classes.

Caritas

We can do no great things, only small things with great love – Mother Teresa The most important value that the new generation needs is that of giving without expecting compensation and in order to inculcate this moral value, various works of charity were carried out by the students. Onapudava and Unnikoruduppu are Onam and Christmas gifts, respectively, to 40 financially backwards students brought from the humble contribution of their peers.Moreover the students have donated to various organizations and groups and also to peers’ parents who are terminally ill.

National Cadet Corps

Five of our cadets - Under Officer Malavika Y. (A2), Sergeants Ajmiya Jamal (CC2) and Saranya (A2) , Corporal Maneesha S. (H2) and Lance Corporal Gopura Gayathridevi (A2) - attended National Integration Camp this year. Maneesha S. bagged the first place in Quiz competition at the camp.

The Bharat Scouts and Guides

Awareness sessions on Drug Abuse and Traffic rules were organized by the unit. Ranger Kalyani Dharshan (H2) took a class on jewellery making.

National Social Scheme

A programme on women protection and safety by SI Anitha(Kollam city East) was organized for the students. The volunteers donated 50 books to a library at the adopted village. The NSS camp was held at Jyothi Nikethan College for Women, Kollam from 23- 29 Dec. 2017.

Additional Skill Acquisition Programme

The course skills offered here at our school are: Accounting Technician, Floriculture, Craft Baker, Front office Associate and Emergency Medical Technician. The classes are held from 7:45 – 8:45 am on weekdays at our campus and at Govt HSS Mangad on Saturdays.

Kerala Catholic Student’s League

The KCSL unit escalated the glory of the institution by emerging as the overall champion in the Higher Secondary Section at the District level. The students achieved distinctive laurels in KCSL anthem, Puthenpana, Creative writing, Essay writing, Speech, Solo Dance, Bible quiz, ICCSI quiz and KCSL magazine. The unit coordinated Holy Mass services on First Fridays and reciting of the Rosary on Fridays. Sayana(A2), Jessymol and Divya (A1) participated in 3-day KCSL camp at Kottiyam.

Study tours and Field trips

As part of extensive learning, the second year humanities and commerce students were taken to Central Jail, Vijayalekshmi Mills, Asan Smarakam while the science students visited Bishop Jerome Institute of Engineering. This year’s study tour, conducted from 5-10 Oct 2017, was to Ooty, Mysore, Athirapally-Vazhachal and Silver storm Water Theme Park. The staff, too, has a day to unwind and the trip is proposed for 3April 2018 to the serene valley of Rosemala.

FAREWELL CEREMONY

A farewell function was conducted for the outgoing students on 19/01/2018. Fr. Erwin James celebrated a Holy Mass for success in the approaching Board exam. Students who had come out in flying colours in the various academic and extra-curricular activities were awarded with cash prizes, certificates and trophies. We also organized a farewell function for Mrs Camilla T., (HSST Zoology) who is retiring after many years of service at Vimala Hridaya. Her love for teaching, her sensitivity for those who needed help, her pleasant and helpful manner always, excellent teaching capabilities and her commitment to passing on highest standards to her pupils are among her fine qualities. We will surely miss her professional expertise and loving nature.
