Thalangara Village

Thalangara is one of the densly populated villages in Kasaragod district.The majority of the people are muslims.This village is highly influeced and depends by the Gulf money. Comparing to the other villages of Kerala, the educational standard of the earlier generations are lower but the new generation is eager to get a proffessional or academic qualification to compete with others.The geographical area of the village starts from Theruvath ,where the the Railway Station is situated, and end with northern boarder Kadavath, where river Payaswini marks the boundary. The major places are Theruvath, Pallickal, Khazilane, Deenar Nagar, Gazzali Nagar, Kunnil, Padinhar, Bangod, K.K.Puram, Nusrath Nagar, Kadavath etc.. The Greate Malik Deenar Juma Masjid is the main attraction of the village. As it is one of the important pilgrimage centre in Kerala, a lot of pilgrims are visiting this holy place.

Thalangara Thoppi

' Thalangara Thoppi ' ( Cap ), Thalangara's own product, was the most popular item in the past. It was produced domestically in the earlier years. In the past years, it was rare to find a home without involving in making these Thalangara Thoppi. Late K.S. Abdul Khader Haji, M.P. Abdul Khader Haji and Padhindadkal Mohammed Haji were the founders of this industry. The products were exporting mainly to gulf countries. This industry played an important role in the economy of Thalangara in those years. Due to the introduction of the cheap rated mechanised products , the hand made caps can not compete with them in

the global market. Presently the production of Thalangara Caps are very less.

Thalangara Estuary

This picturesque fishing harbor is a meeting point of the Chandragiri River and the Arabian Sea. It is a haven for many migratory birds during the migratory season.

Thalangara Children's Park

 

Thalangara Children's Park is a popular recreational area located in Kasaragod, a town in the Indian state of Kerala. The park is an ideal destination for families with young children, as it features a variety of activities and attractions designed to keep kids entertained. The park includes a large playground with swings, slides, and other play equipment, as well as a miniature train ride, a small zoo, and a boating area. There are also several picnic areas and food stalls, making it a great place to spend a day outdoors with family and friends. The park is free to enter, but there may be a small fee for some of the attractions such as the miniature train ride and the boating area.

Mallikarjuna Temple

 

One of the oldest and important temples in Kasaragod, the Mallikarjuna temple is devoted to lord Shiva known here by the name Mallikarjuna. The temple is situated in the heart of the Kasaragod city near the taluk office. The Kumbala River flows close by to the south of the temple.  Legend has it that the idol of Lord Shiva in the temple is adorned by Arjuna (Arjuna in classical Sanskrit is one of the Pandavas, the heroes of the Hindu epic Mahabharata.)

Malik Dinar Mosque

The mosque contains the grave of Malik Dinar, one of the Taabi'eens (people who had seen the companions of the Islamic prophet Muhammad) and the place is sacred to Muslims. Another notable mosque in Kasaragod is the Theruvath Mosque, which is in the center of the town.

T Ubaid :

The most influenced person in the social, educational and cultural development of Thalangara was T.Ubaid. Popularly known as UBAIDCHA among the villagers. He was a well known mappila poet and member of the Kerala Sahitya Academy. Born in October 7, 1908. Earlier studies was in Kannada media. Started writing poetries in Kannada. Then learned Malayalam language from his father. He wrote 29 books in Kannada and Malayalam.

 

Mohammed Azharuddeen :

Mohammed Azharuddeen (born 22 March 1994) is an Indian cricketer from Thalangara, Kerala - who plays for Kerala in domestic cricket. He is a right-handed wicket-keeper-batter.
