The Dreadful Killer Everybody know that now a days we are struggling against the dreadful Covid – 19. Covid – 19 is a disease caused by a new corona virus that emerged in China in December 2019. Due to this corona virus, about 1,50,000 deaths have been recorded in various parts of the world. There are different kinds of corona viruses. Some of them can cause common colds and other mild respiratory illnesses. Some corona virus can cause more serious diseases like SARS and MERS. The new corona virus is spread through droplets released into the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Symptoms of Covid – 19 • Dry Cough • Fever • Headache • Shortness of Breath As of now, there is no specific treatment for the virus. So prevention is the best way to fight this virus. We can prevent this virus by practising good hygiene, social and physical distancing. • Wash your hands with soap or sanitizer for 20 seconds. • Maintain a safe distance from anyone who is coughing or sneezing. • Don't touch your eyes, nose or mouth. • Cover your nose and mouth with a kerchief or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Dear friends, if you have a fever or any kind of respiratory difficulty such as coughing or shortness of breath, immediately ask for medical assistance. We can strive together for the prevention of corona virus and we can protect the world from this disease. I am very proud of the activities done by our Kerala Government to prevent the corona virus, compared to the other states of India. The number of covid patients are less in our state because of the co-operation and precautions of our people. I appreciate all the workers of our Health Department. I am really happy to see the activities done by ‘Community Kitchens’.
