ചരിത്രം
The academic activities of this institution started with the admission of the first batch in the year 1960-61. There were only 30 students in the first batch. Later the intake was increased to 90 and now it stands at 120. The first Superintendent was Sri. Krishna Moosed (Period of Working 1960-68). Though a PVTC batch also started it was terminated in 1995. At first the institution was known as JTS. Though the name was changed to THS the former name is still popular with the folk.
At present there are six technical trades in this institution in which technical practice is given to the students. As part of modernization NVEQF system is also introduced here from the year 2014-15. A VHSE Institution is also functioning in this campus. Two GIFD centres have been working under this institution at Chathanur and mannarkkad. The total number of teaching staff including the HSA is 30. The number of office staff is 9 and the number of part time employees is 4. Though the main building is double storied the roof is asbestos. Most of the workshop labs are also functioning under the same. The campus is consisting of 10 acres and there is small wood also around the institution.

The technical trades in which practical classes are given in this institution are: Basic Trades: Sheet metal, Carpentry, Fitting, Electrical and Electronics
Specialization Trades:
1. Electronics
2. Maintenance of Two and Three wheeler
3. Electroplating
4. Turning
5. Welding
6. Fitting
As part of modernization the NVEQF system was introduced in this institution. There are 5 NVEQF trades in which practical experience are given to the students. All facilities were arranged for the smooth functioning of this system. Equipments, tools and consumables were purchased and issued for the practical classes. But for the second year practical classes more facilities need to be arranged.A Lathe was purchased under centralized purchase scheme.

Innovation of Labs and Workshop
With the introduction of NVEQF syllabus more spacious labs were required for the smooth conduction of practical classes. So the electronics and electrical workshop labs were shifted to the available PVTC building. A language lab was also arranged for conducting language classes.
With the help of RMSA fund necessary additional facilities were provided for the smooth functioning of physics lab chemistry lab and IT lab.
