ജി.വി.എച്ച്.എസ്.എസ് ചാത്തന്നൂർ

 കൊല്ലം നഗരത്തിൽ നിന്നും തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തേയ്ക്കുളള ദേശീയപാത47-ൽ ,ഇത്തിക്കര ആറിന്റെ തീരത്ത്,കൊല്ലത്ത് നിന്നും 16 കിലോമീറ്റർ തെക്കുള്ള ഒരു ചെറിയ പട്ടണമാണ്‌ ചാത്തന്നൂർ. തലസ്ഥാന നഗരിയായ തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തുനിന്നും 55കിലോമീറ്റർ വടക്ക് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നു. ചാത്തന്നൂർ ഗ്രാമപ്പഞ്ചായത്തിന്റെ ആസ്ഥാനമാണ്‌ ചാത്തന്നൂർ പട്ടണം. ഇതോടൊപ്പം തന്നെ ചാത്തന്നൂർ നിയോജക മണ്ഡലത്തിന്റെയും ഇത്തിക്കര ബ്ലോക്കിന്റെയും ആസ്ഥാനമാണിത്. അനേകം സർക്കാർ ഓഫീസുകളും സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു സ്ഥലം കൂടിയാണ് ചാത്തന്നൂർ . കെ.എസ്.ആർ.റ്റി.സി.യുടെ സ്റ്റേഷനും ഇവിടെയുണ്ട്. സഹകരണ സ്പിന്നിംഗ് മിൽ, ശ്രീനാരായണ കോളേജ്, സർക്കാർ ഐ.റ്റി.ഐ, മിനി സിവിൽ സ്റ്റേഷൻ, കൂടാതെ ജി.വി.എച്ച്.എസ്സ്.എസ്സ് ചാത്തന്നൂർ സ്കൂളും ഇവിടെയാണ് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്.ദേശിയ പാതയോരത്തോട് ചേർന്നാണ് സ്കൂൾ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യന്നത്.ഇന്ന് ആയിരത്തിഅഞൂറോളം കുട്ടികൾ ഇവിടെ പഠിക്കുന്നു.

ചേന്നമത്ത് ശിവ ക്ഷേത്രം

പുരാവസ്തു വകുപ്പിന്റെ നിയന്ത്രണത്തിലും സംരക്ഷണത്തിലുമുള്ള ചാത്തന്നൂരിലെ പ്രസിദ്ദമായ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണിത്. പതിമൂന്നാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിൽ നിർമ്മിച്ചതെന്നു കരുതുന്ന ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം ഇടത്തരം വലിപ്പമുള്ള അപൂർവ കല്ലുകൊണ്ട് നിർമ്മിച്ച ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിലൊന്നാണ്. വട്ടെഴുത്തിലുള്ള ഒരു ശിലാ ലിഖിതം ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലുണ്ട്. ക്ഷേത്ര ഭിത്തിയിലെ പുരാതനമായ വട്ടെഴുത്ത് മാമ്പള്ളി ശാസനം എന്ന പേരിലാണ് അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. ആര്യദേവൻ ഉഴുത്തിരർ കൊല്ലവർഷം 448 (എ ഡി 1273) ൽ പുന:പ്രതിഷ്ഠ നടത്തി എന്നാണ് ഈ വട്ടെഴുത്തിൽ രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുള്ളത്. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ ശ്രീകോവിലിലുള്ള മാമ്പള്ളി ശാസനം ഉൾക്കൊള്ളുന്ന ഭാഗങ്ങളിൽ പുരാവസ്തു വകുപ്പ് രാസ സംരക്ഷണം, ഘടനാ സംരക്ഷണം എന്നിവ നടത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.

Ithikkara Village,Chathannoor

Ithikkara is a small village in Chathannoor locality in Kollam district. It gets its name from the beautiful and serene river 'Ithikkara river'. It is situated about 13Km from Kollam city.

Ithikkara River

Ithikkara river originates from western ghats. It is a 56 km long river, flows through Kollam district and empties into Paravur lake.I thikkara village is situated on the banks of this river.It was relatively untouched by the human presence in the past. It is loosing its serenity nowadays due to unfair practices. The catchment is impacted by sand mining and almost get converted to human settlement areas. This leads to a decline in the number of fresh water fishes and is affecting the Eco-system as a whole.

Ithikkara Bridge

Ithikkara bridge is located in Chathannoor area of Kollam district. It connects the two banks of river Ithikkara stretching about 200m and located on NH47. It was opened for traffic on January 20- 1976. It was inaugurated following the funeral procession of Shri T K Divakaran ( Hon Minister for Works).
