CLEANLINESS


 We all like clean environments but only a few of us are ready to maintain it. Cleanliness is basically defined as the attitude of keeping and trying to be free of any form of dirt and germs to maintain a good physical as well as mental health. Generally cleanliness is the habit of trying to keep our mind, body, dress, belongings and environment clean and neat. The cleanliness of our body is important for having a good mental and physical health. Our environment should also be kept clean as it is very important for individual and social health. We should practice cleanliness of ourselves and our surroundings as it is a major cause of the spreading of many diseases like the now-spreading novel corona virus."

Areas for practicing Cleanliness:

   1. Personal Hygiene

This involves cleaning and maintaining our body parts. Taking Bath, brushing, combing, washing hands frequently, are some habits which are considered as an important part of personal cleanliness. It also involves keeping our mind to clean. Keeping one's mind free from bad thoughts is as important as physical cleanliness.

   2. At Home

After personal cleanliness, the next important thing is cleanliness of our dwelling place. This includes many things like from disposing garbage daily to cleaning rooms, maintaining bed covers, cleaning interior and exterior of the house, etc. This also includes proper waste management.

   3. At Public places

Cleanliness of public places is also an important matter. We should not spit, throw garbage on roads. We should clean public toilets after use. We should not pollute public places in any means. If everyone becomes responsible about the cleanliness of these places, our country will have a good environment for living, working and playing. Main benefits of Cleanliness:

Cleanliness, as said above, is very important for our health. It is important for disease prevention too. People with dirty habits are more likely to affect and spread many diseases, like COVID 19. These diseases are taking many lives every year. So, to avoid this, we should practice good cleanliness habits. Cleanliness of our surroundings is also important as it also plays a part in preventing diseases from spreading. Cleanliness increases our confidence and also earn respect from others. It earns us as a decent place in the society.  It is also a very good habit that makes us happy and proud.

It would be very disappointing for children in the future if they are told there was a time when there were green trees, beautiful gardens, and clean surroundings but there aren’t any left because people didn’t took care of them. So keeping our surroundings clean and thereby safe will ensure that the future generations will get a chance enjoy nature as we do today. Many people, including us, like to be in country side villages as there is much clean and fresh air when compared to cities where there are factories and industries that pollute air and surroundings. So clean environment also ensures that everyone will get fresh and clean air to breathe. Thus, Cleanliness has many benefits, even more than mentioned above. Nurturing Cleanliness: We can nurture cleanliness by practicing it from the time sensitivity is achieved. It is best to practice it from childhood. Cleanliness has nothing to do with being rich. Every person can achieve it by being careful and trying to be clean. So, it could be achieved by anyone in the society irrespective of their wealth. Many great personalities has argued people to have a habit of cleanliness. The most important name among them is obliviously Mahatma Gandhi, father of our nation. He always insisted people to keep their mind, body and surrounding. As a result of his experience in the west, he said that a lavatory should be as clean as the drawing room. Following Gandhi’s objective, our Prime minister has launched a campaign to keep our surroundings clean, naming it Swatch Bharat, in 2014. It mainly functions to provide sanitation facilities in rural places, proper solid and liquid waste disposal systems, and safe drinking water. In conclusion, Cleanliness is extremely important for us to maintain a healthy lifestyle with a good standard of living. Cleanliness plays a very good role in boosting a person’s popularity and acceptance in the society. A lot of civil laws and programs have been organized and put in place by various governments of the world, including our nation. We should stop our habit to dispose the wastes in our surrounding, we can do this by putting our waste away into the dustbin for disposal and in a bid to prevent the spread of various infections and diseases in our home and surrounding. Cleanliness is not just one person’s responsibility or job; everybody should do their best individually and collectively to maintain cleanliness in the country, community, society and the home. It is very important nowadays, to stop diseases from spreading, Like the COVID 19. We should do our best to fully understand all the different facets of cleanliness so that we can fully benefit from cleanliness.
