Environment
Human beings are blessed with a beautiful Earth. The different types of flora and fauna enriches the beauty of our nature. Also the beautiful wide varieties of birds and animals adds a new feather to the crown of nature`s beauty. The air we breath in , the soil we live on , the trees which give us oxygen all constitute the environment. The word environment derived from the French word `environ ́ which means to encircle in which organisms or group of organisms live. The environment consists of living and non-living substances. Scientifically we can say that the environment consists of biotic and abiotic substances i.e. air , water , food , sunlight etc. Since one can define the environment as ̈It is the sum total of all social, economical, biological, physical or chemical factors which constitute all surroundings of men or non- living organisms ̈. The environment give us a countless benefits that we can't repay our entire life. Moreover the nature regulates various cycles that happens daily. These cycles helps in maintaining the natural balance between living things and environment. It is the source of nature beauty and is necessary for maintaining the physical and mental health. Currently the situation of environment is very poor that could never be imagined by our ancestors. Environmental pollution is the biggest menace to the human race on this planet today. Human activities are the major cause of environmental degradation. It was due to our fault that we have endlessly spoiled our nature by using its resources in very wrong way. Every day and every where the rate of pollution is increasing on earth where it is air, land, water or soil pollution, deforestation, acid rain and other dangerous disaster created by human through technological advancements. If pollution continuous, the day is not far when our earth will be a boiling pan and become a dessert. According to the Scientific and International body under the United Nations, IPCC [Inter Governmental Panel On Climate Change] the present situation of earth was so poor and declared the situation of Global Warming on earth due to increased level of carbon dioxide in atmosphere. For instance, the Green House Effect, eventually leading to Global Warming and the consequences have been dire, for instance, the rising sea level is expected to submerge most cities near the coast by 2050. Torrential flood and storms will increase in their intensity. The UN General Assembly designated June 5 of every year from 1972 as World Environment Day. On this day, people all over the world express their shared nature concerns for the earth. Nowadays, due to human interaction flood drought earthquakes have become a common factor. Most of the people are responsible for the pollution caused to the earth for their own personal motive. The Kasthoori Rangan report and Gadkil report emphasis the views of cruel approach of human beings towards the earth. According to Mahatma Gandhi, ̈Earth provides enough to satisfy every man ́s needs, but not every man ́s greed ̈.To conclude, we can say that it is the environment that is keeping alive. The contribution of nature to life cannot be repaid. Use of natural resources should be carefully planned and executed. For providing a better and healthy life to our forthcoming generations, we all should unite with take some pledge about prevention of our environment with less and safe use of natural resource. The Earth is what we all have in common. Thus we can adopt the words of Marlee Matlin ̈The earth does not belong to us : We belong to the earth. ̈
