CORONA VIRUS The corona virus is a family of viruses that can cause a range of illness in humans,including common cold and severe forms like SERS and MERS which are life threatening. The virus is named after its shape which takes the form of a crown with projections around it. And hence,it is called corona virus. According to the US Centres for Disease Control and prevention (CDC) human corona viruses most commonly spread from an infected person to others through coughing and sneezing,close personal contact such as touching or shaking hands. The virus can also spread by touching an object or surface with which the virus on it,and then touching your mouth,nose or eyes before washing your hands. In more severe cases,infection can cause pneumonia severe acute respiratory syndrome,kidney failure and even death. Corona viruses are zoonotic and they are transmitted between animals and people. Since,it is a new strain,there is no specific vaccine that can treat it. However,it has already killed over 1,50,000 people globally. The virus has spread to all continents now,except Antarctica.
