LOCK DOWN AFTER EFFECTS The government of India imposed a nationwide lockdown four weeks ago,it was designed to stop the imminent spread of covid 19 but it also results in the temporary remedy to another pressing health issue : suffocating pollution levels. Already our data shows that the main cities are recording much lower levels of harmful microscopic particulates which is released by vehicles and power plants.As a result of this lock down, a sudden fall in pollutants and subsequent blue sky signal created a dramatic shift for India." I have not seen such a blue skies in Delhi for the past 10 years " - said Jyothi pande lavakre the co- founder of Indian environmental organization care for air and the author of the book 'Breathing here is injurious to health'. It is a silver lining in terms of this awful crisis that we can step outside and breathe.from this it is clear that covid 19 and the following lock down created a tremendous change to Indian pollution scenario. Obviously this is not the most ideal way to bring down air pollution,but it does prove that air pollution is man made and through this lock down we get a lot of encouragement and hope that we can bring pollution down. Even though corona virus became a menace to the whole mankind, the following lock down led to an unexpected bonus for the country with 6 out of 10 of the world's most polluted cities: cleaner air. The lock down has clearly told us that the main source of pollution is human! One of the tremendous achievement made by the stringent lock down is ,' It has been able to achieve what government can't for decades!
