== ചരിത്രം ==

1974 ആഗസ്റ്റ് 8 ന് കോഴിക്കോട് ആസ്ഥാനമായി പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്ന AWH(Association for Welfare of Handicapped) എന്ന സന്നദ്ധ സംഘടനയുടെ കീഴിൽ കാഴ്ച വൈകല്യമുള്ള 5 കുട്ടികളും കേൾവി വൈകല്യമുള്ള 14കുട്ടികളും ആയി ബധിരരായ കുട്ടികൾക്കായുള്ള മലബാറിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ സ്പെഷ്യൽ സ്കൂൾ പ്രവർത്തനം ആരംഭിച്ചു. ആദ്യത്തെ ഹെഡ്‌മാസ്റ്റർ ശ്രീ. മുഹമ്മദ് സാറും ആദ്യത്തെ വിദ്യാർത്ഥി ഹസ്സൻ പി ടി യും ആണ്. 1990ൽ ശ്രീ.നാരായണൻ പ്രസിഡന്റായി PTA രൂപീകരിച്ചു. 1991ൽ ആദ്യ SSLC ബാച്ച് പരീക്ഷ എഴുതി. ഇന്ന് ഹയർ സെക്കണ്ടറി വിഭാഗത്തിൽ 875 കുട്ടികളും വൊക്കേഷണൽ ഹയർ സെക്കണ്ടറി വിഭാഗത്തിൽ 165 കുട്ടികളും സ്കൂൾ ബധിര വിഭാഗത്തിൽ 125 കുട്ടികളും അന്ധ വിഭാഗത്തിൽ 30 കുട്ടികളും പഠിക്കുന്നു.

== ഭൗതികസൗകര്യങ്ങൾ ==

ഒരു ഏക്കർ 18 സെന്റ് ഭൂമിയിലാണ് വിദ്യാലയം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. 3 കെട്ടിടങ്ങളിലായി ഹയർ സെക്കണ്ടറി സ്കൂൾ, വൊക്കേഷണൽ ഹയർ സെക്കണ്ടറി സ്കൂൾ, സ്പെഷ്യൽ സ്കൂൾ [ബധിര വിഭാഗം (1-10),അന്ധ വിഭാഗം (1-7)] എന്നിവ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നു.ഒരു ഓഡിയോളജി ലാബും സ്പീച്ച് തെറാപ്പി യൂണിറ്റും പ്രീ-പ്രൈമറി വിഭാഗവും വിദ്യാലയത്തിനുണ്ട്. ഹൈസ്കൂളിനും ഹയർസെക്കണ്ടറിക്കും വെവ്വേറെ കമ്പ്യൂട്ടർ ലാബുകളുണ്ട്. രണ്ട് ലാബുകളിലുമായി ഏകദേശം 40 കമ്പ്യൂട്ടറുകളുണ്ട്. രണ്ട് ലാബുകളിലും ബ്രോഡ്ബാന്റ് ഇന്റർനെറ്റ് സൗകര്യം ലഭ്യമാകുന്നു. ഹയർസെക്കണ്ടറിയുടെ സയൻസ് ലാബുകൾക്ക് പുറമേ ഹൈസ്കൂളിനായി ഒരു സയൻസ് ലാബും സ്മാർട്ട് റൂമും ഉണ്ട്.പൊതുപരിപാടികൾ നടത്താൻ മികച്ച ഒരു സ്റ്റേജും കുടിവെള്ള സൗകര്യവും സ്കൂളിലുണ്ട്. കുട്ടികൾക്ക് സൗജന്യ ഹോസ്റ്റൽ സൗകര്യം ലഭ്യമാണ്.

== മാനേജ്മെന്റ് ==
The Association for Welfare of the Handicapped popularly Known as “AWH was formed in the year 1973. It was registered in 1975 under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. The organization is also registered with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India under Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act of 1976, with FC No.052880056 dated 10.4.1985. The organization has also obtained income tax exemption under sections 12A and 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961.

The Association for Welfare of the Handicapped, is a premier NGO, working mostly in the developmentally backward region of Malabar in Kerala State.

As of now; the aims and objectives of AWH encompass the entire rubric of development, education and rehabilitation.

The incidence of disabled population in a country like India has been estimated as 7 to 10 percent of total population. After having the protracted initiations rendered by various agencies in the area of disability rehabilitation, we could only cater to the needs of one percent of disabled persons in the country. Still the major chunk of the target group is marginalized from the preview of rehabilitation services.

The situation of economically and developmentally backward region like Northern Kerala, is pathetic as in the more poverty ridden area, especially among minority people, the rehabilitation services for disabled people were almost nil. In this context, the organisers of AWH felt the need to escalate a planned scientific approach to rehabilitate the people with disabilities.

AWH started both residential and daycare, special education/training centres for various disabled groups such as hearing impaired, visual impaired, mentally handicapped, cerebral palsied, locomotor disabled, multiple disabled like deaf-blind, leprosy cured and also for the genetically and hereditary disabled people. Simultaneous with the disability services, AWH were also vigilant to sensitize the issues related to women and children in distress, aged people, substance addicted and chronic disease affected people, hence, AWH started appropriate service and treatment centres for them.

AWH was very particular at its inception itself that all services and activities should be scientific and time-tested. Therefore AWH focuses on a systematic approach in the rehabilitation services. The activities emphasised were Early detection and Intervention, Special Education, Vocational training and Job placement

At present AWH is rendering services for over 5000 persons coming under different category of differently abled people.

കോഴിക്കോട് നഗരത്തില് നിന്ന് 8 കിലോമീറ്റര് കിഴക്ക് ഭാഗത്തായാണ് സ്ക്കൂള് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. കാലിക്കറ്റ് ഇസ്ലാമിക്ക് കള്ച്ചറല് സൊസൈറ്റി എന്ന സന്നദ്ധ സംഘടനയുടെ കീഴില് അന്ധര്ക്കും ബധിരര്ക്കും വേണ്ടി മാത്രമാണ് ഈ സ്ഥാപനം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നത്.

== ചരിത്രം ==
1980 ല് അന്ധര്ക്ക് വേണ്ടി പ്രൈമറി സ്ക്കൂളായാണ് ഈ സ്ഥാപനം തുടങ്ങിയത്. കോഴിക്കോട് ആസ്ഥാനമായി പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്ന കാലിക്കറ്റ് ഇസ്ലാമിക്ക് കള്ച്ചറൽ സൊസൈറ്റി എന്ന സന്നദ്ധ സംഘടനയുടെ കീഴിലാണ് ഈ സ്ഥാപനം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നത്. ഇപ്പോള് അന്ധരും ബധിരരുമായ കുുട്ടികള്കായി പ്രീ-പ്രൈമറി മുതല് പ്ലസ് ടു വരെയുള്ള വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ സൗകര്യം ഉണ്ട്. കുട്ടികള്ക്ക് എല്ലാവര്ക്കും സൗജന്യ ഹോസ്റ്റല് സൗകര്യം ലഭ്യമാണ്.

== ഭൗതികസൗകര്യങ്ങൾ ==
എകദേശം 8 ഏക്കറോളം സ്ഥലത്ത് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ഈ സ്ഥാപനത്തിന് 8 കെട്ടിടങ്ങള് ഉണ്ട്. ഇതില് 4 കെട്ടിടങ്ങള് സ്ക്കുള് ക്ലാസുകള്ക്കായും 4 കെട്ടിടങ്ങള് താമസ സൗകര്യങ്ങള്ക്കുവേണ്ടിയും ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു. വിശാലമായ കളിസ്ഥലം ഈ സ്ക്കൂളിന് ഉണ്ട്. ഹൈസ്കൂളിനും ഹയർസെക്കണ്ടറിക്കും വെവ്വേറെ കമ്പ്യൂട്ടർ ലാബുകളുണ്ട്. രണ്ട് ലാബുകളിലുമായി ഏകദേശം അമ്പതോളം കമ്പ്യൂട്ടറുകളുണ്ട്. രണ്ട് ലാബുകളിലും ബ്രോഡ്ബാന്റ് ഇന്റർനെറ്റ് സൗകര്യം ലഭ്യമാണ്.

1974 ആഗസ്റ്റ് 8 ന് കോഴിക്കോട് ആസ്ഥാനമായി പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്ന AWH(Association for Welfare of Handicapped) എന്ന സന്നദ്ധ സംഘടനയുടെ കീഴിൽ കാഴ്ച വൈകല്യമുള്ള 5 കുട്ടികളും കേൾവി വൈകല്യമുള്ള 14കുട്ടികളും ആയി ബധിരരായ കുട്ടികൾക്കായുള്ള മലബാറിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ സ്പെഷ്യൽ സ്കൂൾ പ്രവർത്തനം ആരംഭിച്ചു. ആദ്യത്തെ ഹെഡ്‌മാസ്റ്റർ ശ്രീ. മുഹമ്മദ് സാറും ആദ്യത്തെ വിദ്യാർത്ഥി ഹസ്സൻ പി ടി യും ആണ്. 1990ൽ ശ്രീ.നാരായണൻ പ്രസിഡന്റായി PTA രൂപീകരിച്ചു. 1991ൽ ആദ്യ SSLC ബാച്ച് പരീക്ഷ എഴുതി. ഇന്ന് ഹയർ സെക്കണ്ടറി വിഭാഗത്തിൽ 875 കുട്ടികളും വൊക്കേഷണൽ ഹയർ സെക്കണ്ടറി വിഭാഗത്തിൽ 165 കുട്ടികളും സ്കൂൾ ബധിര വിഭാഗത്തിൽ 125 കുട്ടികളും അന്ധ വിഭാഗത്തിൽ 30 കുട്ടികളും പഠിക്കുന്നു.

== ഭൗതികസൗകര്യങ്ങൾ ==

ഒരു ഏക്കർ 18 സെന്റ് ഭൂമിയിലാണ് വിദ്യാലയം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. 3 കെട്ടിടങ്ങളിലായി ഹയർ സെക്കണ്ടറി സ്കൂൾ, വൊക്കേഷണൽ ഹയർ സെക്കണ്ടറി സ്കൂൾ, സ്പെഷ്യൽ സ്കൂൾ [ബധിര വിഭാഗം (1-10),അന്ധ വിഭാഗം (1-7)] എന്നിവ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നു.ഒരു ഓഡിയോളജി ലാബും സ്പീച്ച് തെറാപ്പി യൂണിറ്റും പ്രീ-പ്രൈമറി വിഭാഗവും വിദ്യാലയത്തിനുണ്ട്. ഹൈസ്കൂളിനും ഹയർസെക്കണ്ടറിക്കും വെവ്വേറെ കമ്പ്യൂട്ടർ ലാബുകളുണ്ട്. രണ്ട് ലാബുകളിലുമായി ഏകദേശം 40 കമ്പ്യൂട്ടറുകളുണ്ട്. രണ്ട് ലാബുകളിലും ബ്രോഡ്ബാന്റ് ഇന്റർനെറ്റ് സൗകര്യം ലഭ്യമാകുന്നു. ഹയർസെക്കണ്ടറിയുടെ സയൻസ് ലാബുകൾക്ക് പുറമേ ഹൈസ്കൂളിനായി ഒരു സയൻസ് ലാബും സ്മാർട്ട് റൂമും ഉണ്ട്.പൊതുപരിപാടികൾ നടത്താൻ മികച്ച ഒരു സ്റ്റേജും കുടിവെള്ള സൗകര്യവും സ്കൂളിലുണ്ട്. കുട്ടികൾക്ക് സൗജന്യ ഹോസ്റ്റൽ സൗകര്യം ലഭ്യമാണ്.

== മാനേജ്മെന്റ് ==
The Association for Welfare of the Handicapped popularly Known as “AWH was formed in the year 1973. It was registered in 1975 under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. The organization is also registered with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India under Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act of 1976, with FC No.052880056 dated 10.4.1985. The organization has also obtained income tax exemption under sections 12A and 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961.

The Association for Welfare of the Handicapped, is a premier NGO, working mostly in the developmentally backward region of Malabar in Kerala State.

As of now; the aims and objectives of AWH encompass the entire rubric of development, education and rehabilitation.

The incidence of disabled population in a country like India has been estimated as 7 to 10 percent of total population. After having the protracted initiations rendered by various agencies in the area of disability rehabilitation, we could only cater to the needs of one percent of disabled persons in the country. Still the major chunk of the target group is marginalized from the preview of rehabilitation services.

The situation of economically and developmentally backward region like Northern Kerala, is pathetic as in the more poverty ridden area, especially among minority people, the rehabilitation services for disabled people were almost nil. In this context, the organisers of AWH felt the need to escalate a planned scientific approach to rehabilitate the people with disabilities.

AWH started both residential and daycare, special education/training centres for various disabled groups such as hearing impaired, visual impaired, mentally handicapped, cerebral palsied, locomotor disabled, multiple disabled like deaf-blind, leprosy cured and also for the genetically and hereditary disabled people. Simultaneous with the disability services, AWH were also vigilant to sensitize the issues related to women and children in distress, aged people, substance addicted and chronic disease affected people, hence, AWH started appropriate service and treatment centres for them.

AWH was very particular at its inception itself that all services and activities should be scientific and time-tested. Therefore AWH focuses on a systematic approach in the rehabilitation services. The activities emphasised were Early detection and Intervention, Special Education, Vocational training and Job placement

At present AWH is rendering services for over 5000 persons coming under different category of differently abled people.

1974 ആഗസ്റ്റ് 8 ന് കോഴിക്കോട് ആസ്ഥാനമായി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്ന AWH(Association for Welfare of Handicapped) എന്ന സന്നദ്ധ സംഘടനയുടെ കീഴില്‍ കാഴ്ച വൈകല്യമുള്ള 5 കുട്ടികളും കേള്‍വി വൈകല്യമുള്ള 14കുട്ടികളും ആയി ബധിരരായ കുട്ടികള്‍ക്കായുള്ള മലബാറിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ സ്പെഷ്യല്‍ സ്കൂള്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനം ആരംഭിച്ചു. ആദ്യത്തെ ഹെഡ്‌മാസ്റ്റര്‍ ശ്രീ. മുഹമ്മദ് സാറും ആദ്യത്തെ വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥി ഹസ്സന്‍ പി ടി യും ആണ്. 1990ല്‍ ശ്രീ.നാരായണന്‍ പ്രസിഡന്റായി PTA രൂപീകരിച്ചു. 1991ല്‍ ആദ്യ SSLC ബാച്ച് പരീക്ഷ എഴുതി. ഇന്ന് ഹയര്‍ സെക്കണ്ടറി വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ 875 കുട്ടികളും വൊക്കേഷണല്‍ ഹയര്‍ സെക്കണ്ടറി വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ 165 കുട്ടികളും സ്കൂള്‍ ബധിര വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ 125 കുട്ടികളും അന്ധ വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ 30 കുട്ടികളും പഠിക്കുന്നു.

== ഭൗതികസൗകര്യങ്ങള്‍ ==

ഒരു ഏക്കര്‍ 18 സെന്റ് ഭൂമിയിലാണ് വിദ്യാലയം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. 3 കെട്ടിടങ്ങളിലായി ഹയര്‍ സെക്കണ്ടറി സ്കൂള്‍, വൊക്കേഷണല്‍ ഹയര്‍ സെക്കണ്ടറി സ്കൂള്‍, സ്പെഷ്യല്‍ സ്കൂള്‍ [ബധിര വിഭാഗം (1-10),അന്ധ വിഭാഗം (1-7)] എന്നിവ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നു.ഒരു ഓഡിയോളജി ലാബും സ്പീച്ച് തെറാപ്പി യൂണിറ്റും പ്രീ-പ്രൈമറി വിഭാഗവും വിദ്യാലയത്തിനുണ്ട്. ഹൈസ്കൂളിനും ഹയര്‍സെക്കണ്ടറിക്കും വെവ്വേറെ കമ്പ്യൂട്ടര്‍ ലാബുകളുണ്ട്. രണ്ട് ലാബുകളിലുമായി ഏകദേശം 40 കമ്പ്യൂട്ടറുകളുണ്ട്. രണ്ട് ലാബുകളിലും ബ്രോഡ്ബാന്റ് ഇന്റര്‍നെറ്റ് സൗകര്യം ലഭ്യമാകുന്നു. ഹയര്‍സെക്കണ്ടറിയുടെ സയന്‍സ് ലാബുകള്‍ക്ക് പുറമേ ഹൈസ്കൂളിനായി ഒരു സയന്‍സ് ലാബും സ്മാര്‍ട്ട് റൂമും ഉണ്ട്.പൊതുപരിപാടികള്‍ നടത്താന്‍ മികച്ച ഒരു സ്റ്റേജും കുടിവെള്ള സൗകര്യവും സ്കൂളിലുണ്ട്. കുട്ടികള്‍ക്ക് സൗജന്യ ഹോസ്റ്റല്‍ സൗകര്യം ലഭ്യമാണ്.

== മാനേജ്മെന്റ് ==
The Association for Welfare of the Handicapped popularly Known as “AWH was formed in the year 1973. It was registered in 1975 under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. The organization is also registered with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India under Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act of 1976, with FC No.052880056 dated 10.4.1985. The organization has also obtained income tax exemption under sections 12A and 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961.

The Association for Welfare of the Handicapped, is a premier NGO, working mostly in the developmentally backward region of Malabar in Kerala State.

As of now; the aims and objectives of AWH encompass the entire rubric of development, education and rehabilitation.

The incidence of disabled population in a country like India has been estimated as 7 to 10 percent of total population. After having the protracted initiations rendered by various agencies in the area of disability rehabilitation, we could only cater to the needs of one percent of disabled persons in the country. Still the major chunk of the target group is marginalized from the preview of rehabilitation services.

The situation of economically and developmentally backward region like Northern Kerala, is pathetic as in the more poverty ridden area, especially among minority people, the rehabilitation services for disabled people were almost nil. In this context, the organisers of AWH felt the need to escalate a planned scientific approach to rehabilitate the people with disabilities.

AWH started both residential and daycare, special education/training centres for various disabled groups such as hearing impaired, visual impaired, mentally handicapped, cerebral palsied, locomotor disabled, multiple disabled like deaf-blind, leprosy cured and also for the genetically and hereditary disabled people. Simultaneous with the disability services, AWH were also vigilant to sensitize the issues related to women and children in distress, aged people, substance addicted and chronic disease affected people, hence, AWH started appropriate service and treatment centres for them.

AWH was very particular at its inception itself that all services and activities should be scientific and time-tested. Therefore AWH focuses on a systematic approach in the rehabilitation services. The activities emphasised were Early detection and Intervention, Special Education, Vocational training and Job placement

At present AWH is rendering services for over 5000 persons coming under different category of differently abled people.

== മാനേജ്മെന്റ് ==
The Association for Welfare of the Handicapped popularly Known as “AWH was formed in the year 1973. It was registered in 1975 under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. The organization is also registered with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India under Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act of 1976, with FC No.052880056 dated 10.4.1985. The organization has also obtained income tax exemption under sections 12A and 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961.

The Association for Welfare of the Handicapped, is a premier NGO, working mostly in the developmentally backward region of Malabar in Kerala State.

As of now; the aims and objectives of AWH encompass the entire rubric of development, education and rehabilitation.

The incidence of disabled population in a country like India has been estimated as 7 to 10 percent of total population. After having the protracted initiations rendered by various agencies in the area of disability rehabilitation, we could only cater to the needs of one percent of disabled persons in the country. Still the major chunk of the target group is marginalized from the preview of rehabilitation services.

The situation of economically and developmentally backward region like Northern Kerala, is pathetic as in the more poverty ridden area, especially among minority people, the rehabilitation services for disabled people were almost nil. In this context, the organisers of AWH felt the need to escalate a planned scientific approach to rehabilitate the people with disabilities.

AWH started both residential and daycare, special education/training centres for various disabled groups such as hearing impaired, visual impaired, mentally handicapped, cerebral palsied, locomotor disabled, multiple disabled like deaf-blind, leprosy cured and also for the genetically and hereditary disabled people. Simultaneous with the disability services, AWH were also vigilant to sensitize the issues related to women and children in distress, aged people, substance addicted and chronic disease affected people, hence, AWH started appropriate service and treatment centres for them.

AWH was very particular at its inception itself that all services and activities should be scientific and time-tested. Therefore AWH focuses on a systematic approach in the rehabilitation services. The activities emphasised were Early detection and Intervention, Special Education, Vocational training and Job placement

At present AWH is rendering services for over 5000 persons coming under different category of differently abled people.

1974 ആഗസ്റ്റ് 8 ന് കോഴിക്കോട് ആസ്ഥാനമായി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്ന AWH(Association for Welfare of Handicapped) എന്ന സന്നദ്ധ സംഘടനയുടെ കീഴില്‍ കാഴ്ച വൈകല്യമുള്ള 5 കുട്ടികളും കേള്‍വി വൈകല്യമുള്ള 14കുട്ടികളും ആയി ബധിരരായ കുട്ടികള്‍ക്കായുള്ള മലബാറിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ സ്പെഷ്യല്‍ സ്കൂള്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനം ആരംഭിച്ചു. ആദ്യത്തെ ഹെഡ്‌മാസ്റ്റര്‍ ശ്രീ. മുഹമ്മദ് സാറും ആദ്യത്തെ വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥി ഹസ്സന്‍ പി ടി യും ആണ്. 1990ല്‍ ശ്രീ.നാരായണന്‍ പ്രസിഡന്റായി PTA രൂപീകരിച്ചു. 1991ല്‍ ആദ്യ SSLC ബാച്ച് പരീക്ഷ എഴുതി. ഇന്ന് ഹയര്‍ സെക്കണ്ടറി വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ കുട്ടികളും വൊക്കേഷണല്‍ ഹയര്‍ സെക്കണ്ടറി വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ കുട്ടികളും സ്കൂള്‍ ബധിര വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ കുട്ടികളും അന്ധ വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ കുട്ടികളും പഠിക്കുന്നു.

== ഭൗതികസൗകര്യങ്ങള്‍ ==

ഒരു ഏക്കര്‍ ഭൂമിയിലാണ് വിദ്യാലയം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. 3 കെട്ടിടങ്ങളിലായി ഹയര്‍ സെക്കണ്ടറി, വൊക്കേഷണല്‍ ഹയര്‍ സെക്കണ്ടറി, ബധിര വിഭാഗം (1-10),അന്ധ വിഭാഗം (1-7) എന്നിവ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നു.ഒരു ഓഡിയോളജി ലാബും സ്പീച്ച് തെറാപ്പി യൂണിറ്റും പ്രീ-പ്രൈമറി വിഭാഗവും വിദ്യാലയത്തിനുണ്ട്. ഹൈസ്കൂളിനും ഹയര്‍സെക്കണ്ടറിക്കും വെവ്വേറെ കമ്പ്യൂട്ടര്‍ ലാബുകളുണ്ട്. രണ്ട് ലാബുകളിലുമായി ഏകദേശം 40 കമ്പ്യൂട്ടറുകളുണ്ട്. രണ്ട് ലാബുകളിലും ബ്രോഡ്ബാന്റ് ഇന്റര്‍നെറ്റ് സൗകര്യം ലഭ്യമാകുന്നു. ഹയര്‍സെക്കണ്ടറിയുടെ സയന്‍സ് ലാബുകള്‍ക്ക് പുറമേ ഹൈസ്കൂളിനായി ഒരു സയന്‍സ് ലാബും സ്മാര്‍ട്ട് റൂമും ഉണ്ട്.പൊതുപരിപാടികള്‍ നടത്താന്‍ മികച്ച ഒരു സ്റ്റേജും കുടിവെള്ള സൗകര്യവും സ്കൂളിലുണ്ട്. കുട്ടികള്‍ക്ക് സൗജന്യ ഹോസ്റ്റല്‍ സൗകര്യം ലഭ്യമാണ്.

1974 ആഗസ്റ്റ് 8 ന് കോഴിക്കോട് ആസ്ഥാനമായി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്ന AWH(Association for Welfare of Handicapped) എന്ന സന്നദ്ധ സംഘടനയുടെ കീഴില്‍ കാഴ്ച വൈകല്യമുള്ള 5 കുട്ടികളും കേള്‍വി വൈകല്യമുള്ള 14കുട്ടികളും ആയി ബധിരരായ കുട്ടികള്‍ക്കായുള്ള മലബാറിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ സ്പെഷ്യല്‍ സ്കൂള്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനം ആരംഭിച്ചു. ആദ്യത്തെ ഹെഡ്‌മാസ്റ്റര്‍ ശ്രീ. മുഹമ്മദ് സാറും ആദ്യത്തെ വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥി ഹസ്സന്‍ പി ടി യും ആണ്. 1990ല്‍ ശ്രീ.നാരായണന്‍ പ്രസിഡന്റായി PTA രൂപീകരിച്ചു. 1991ല്‍ ആദ്യ SSLC ബാച്ച് പരീക്ഷ എഴുതി. ഇന്ന് ഹയര്‍ സെക്കണ്ടറി വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ കുട്ടികളും വൊക്കേഷണല്‍ ഹയര്‍ സെക്കണ്ടറി വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ കുട്ടികളും സ്കൂള്‍ ബധിര വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ കുട്ടികളും അന്ധ വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ കുട്ടികളും പഠിക്കുന്നു.

== ഭൗതികസൗകര്യങ്ങള്‍ ==

ഒരു ഏക്കര്‍ ഭൂമിയിലാണ് വിദ്യാലയം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. 3 കെട്ടിടങ്ങളിലായി ഹയര്‍ സെക്കണ്ടറി, വൊക്കേഷണല്‍ ഹയര്‍ സെക്കണ്ടറി, ബധിര വിഭാഗം (1-10),അന്ധ വിഭാഗം (1-7) എന്നിവ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നു.ഒരു ഓഡിയോളജി ലാബും സ്പീച്ച് തെറാപ്പി യൂണിറ്റും പ്രീ-പ്രൈമറി വിഭാഗവും വിദ്യാലയത്തിനുണ്ട്. ഹൈസ്കൂളിനും ഹയര്‍സെക്കണ്ടറിക്കും വെവ്വേറെ കമ്പ്യൂട്ടര്‍ ലാബുകളുണ്ട്. രണ്ട് ലാബുകളിലുമായി ഏകദേശം 40 കമ്പ്യൂട്ടറുകളുണ്ട്. രണ്ട് ലാബുകളിലും ബ്രോഡ്ബാന്റ് ഇന്റര്‍നെറ്റ് സൗകര്യം ലഭ്യമാകുന്നു. ഹയര്‍സെക്കണ്ടറിയുടെ സയന്‍സ് ലാബുകള്‍ക്ക് പുറമേ ഹൈസ്കൂളിനായി ഒരു സയന്‍സ് ലാബും സ്മാര്‍ട്ട് റൂമും ഉണ്ട്.പൊതുപരിപാടികള്‍ നടത്താന്‍ മികച്ച ഒരു സ്റ്റേജും കുടിവെള്ള സൗകര്യവും സ്കൂളിലുണ്ട്. കുട്ടികള്‍ക്ക് സൗജന്യ ഹോസ്റ്റല്‍ സൗകര്യം ലഭ്യമാണ്.

The Association for Welfare of the Handicapped popularly Known as “AWH was formed in the year 1973. It was registered in 1975 under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. The organization is also registered with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India under Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act of 1976, with FC No.052880056 dated 10.4.1985. The organization has also obtained income tax exemption under sections 12A and 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961.

The Association for Welfare of the Handicapped, is a premier NGO, working mostly in the developmentally backward region of Malabar in Kerala State.

As of now; the aims and objectives of AWH encompass the entire rubric of development, education and rehabilitation.

The incidence of disabled population in a country like India has been estimated as 7 to 10 percent of total population. After having the protracted initiations rendered by various agencies in the area of disability rehabilitation, we could only cater to the needs of one percent of disabled persons in the country. Still the major chunk of the target group is marginalized from the preview of rehabilitation services.

The situation of economically and developmentally backward region like Northern Kerala, is pathetic as in the more poverty ridden area, especially among minority people, the rehabilitation services for disabled people were almost nil. In this context, the organisers of AWH felt the need to escalate a planned scientific approach to rehabilitate the people with disabilities.

AWH started both residential and daycare, special education/training centres for various disabled groups such as hearing impaired, visual impaired, mentally handicapped, cerebral palsied, locomotor disabled, multiple disabled like deaf-blind, leprosy cured and also for the genetically and hereditary disabled people. Simultaneous with the disability services, AWH were also vigilant to sensitize the issues related to women and children in distress, aged people, substance addicted and chronic disease affected people, hence, AWH started appropriate service and treatment centres for them.

AWH was very particular at its inception itself that all services and activities should be scientific and time-tested. Therefore AWH focuses on a systematic approach in the rehabilitation services. The activities emphasised were Early detection and Intervention, Special Education, Vocational training and Job placement

At present AWH is rendering services for over 5000 persons coming under different category of differently abled people.

1974 ആഗസ്റ്റ് 8 ന് കോഴിക്കോട് ആസ്ഥാനമായി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്ന AWH(Association for Welfare of Handicapped) എന്ന സന്നദ്ധ സംഘടനയുടെ കീഴില്‍ കാഴ്ച വൈകല്യമുള്ള 5 കുട്ടികളും കേള്‍വി വൈകല്യമുള്ള 14കുട്ടികളും ആയി ബധിരരായ കുട്ടികള്‍ക്കായുള്ള മലബാറിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ സ്പെഷ്യല്‍ സ്കൂള്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനം ആരംഭിച്ചു. ആദ്യത്തെ ഹെഡ്‌മാസ്റ്റര്‍ ശ്രീ. മുഹമ്മദ് സാറും ആദ്യത്തെ വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥി ഹസ്സന്‍ പി ടി യും ആണ്. 1990ല്‍ ശ്രീ.നാരായണന്‍ പ്രസിഡന്റായി PTA രൂപീകരിച്ചു. 1991ല്‍ ആദ്യ SSLC ബാച്ച് പരീക്ഷ എഴുതി. ഇന്ന് ഹയര്‍ സെക്കണ്ടറി വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ കുട്ടികളും വൊക്കേഷണല്‍ ഹയര്‍ സെക്കണ്ടറി വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ കുട്ടികളും സ്കൂള്‍ ബധിര വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ കുട്ടികളും അന്ധ വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ കുട്ടികളും പഠിക്കുന്നു.

== ഭൗതികസൗകര്യങ്ങള്‍ ==

ഒരു ഏക്കര്‍ ഭൂമിയിലാണ് വിദ്യാലയം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. 3 കെട്ടിടങ്ങളിലായി ഹയര്‍ സെക്കണ്ടറി, വൊക്കേഷണല്‍ ഹയര്‍ സെക്കണ്ടറി, ബധിര വിഭാഗം (1-10),അന്ധ വിഭാഗം (1-7) എന്നിവ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നു.ഒരു ഓഡിയോളജി ലാബും സ്പീച്ച് തെറാപ്പി യൂണിറ്റും പ്രീ-പ്രൈമറി വിഭാഗവും വിദ്യാലയത്തിനുണ്ട്. ഹൈസ്കൂളിനും ഹയര്‍സെക്കണ്ടറിക്കും വെവ്വേറെ കമ്പ്യൂട്ടര്‍ ലാബുകളുണ്ട്. രണ്ട് ലാബുകളിലുമായി ഏകദേശം 40 കമ്പ്യൂട്ടറുകളുണ്ട്. രണ്ട് ലാബുകളിലും ബ്രോഡ്ബാന്റ് ഇന്റര്‍നെറ്റ് സൗകര്യം ലഭ്യമാകുന്നു. ഹയര്‍സെക്കണ്ടറിയുടെ സയന്‍സ് ലാബുകള്‍ക്ക് പുറമേ ഹൈസ്കൂളിനായി ഒരു സയന്‍സ് ലാബും സ്മാര്‍ട്ട് റൂമും ഉണ്ട്.പൊതുപരിപാടികള്‍ നടത്താന്‍ മികച്ച ഒരു സ്റ്റേജും കുടിവെള്ള സൗകര്യവും സ്കൂളിലുണ്ട്. കുട്ടികള്‍ക്ക് സൗജന്യ ഹോസ്റ്റല്‍ സൗകര്യം ലഭ്യമാണ്.

The Association for Welfare of the Handicapped popularly Known as “AWH was formed in the year 1973. It was registered in 1975 under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. The organization is also registered with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India under Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act of 1976, with FC No.052880056 dated 10.4.1985. The organization has also obtained income tax exemption under sections 12A and 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961.

The Association for Welfare of the Handicapped, is a premier NGO, working mostly in the developmentally backward region of Malabar in Kerala State.

As of now; the aims and objectives of AWH encompass the entire rubric of development, education and rehabilitation.

The incidence of disabled population in a country like India has been estimated as 7 to 10 percent of total population. After having the protracted initiations rendered by various agencies in the area of disability rehabilitation, we could only cater to the needs of one percent of disabled persons in the country. Still the major chunk of the target group is marginalized from the preview of rehabilitation services.

The situation of economically and developmentally backward region like Northern Kerala, is pathetic as in the more poverty ridden area, especially among minority people, the rehabilitation services for disabled people were almost nil. In this context, the organisers of AWH felt the need to escalate a planned scientific approach to rehabilitate the people with disabilities.

AWH started both residential and daycare, special education/training centres for various disabled groups such as hearing impaired, visual impaired, mentally handicapped, cerebral palsied, locomotor disabled, multiple disabled like deaf-blind, leprosy cured and also for the genetically and hereditary disabled people. Simultaneous with the disability services, AWH were also vigilant to sensitize the issues related to women and children in distress, aged people, substance addicted and chronic disease affected people, hence, AWH started appropriate service and treatment centres for them.

AWH was very particular at its inception itself that all services and activities should be scientific and time-tested. Therefore AWH focuses on a systematic approach in the rehabilitation services. The activities emphasised were Early detection and Intervention, Special Education, Vocational training and Job placement

At present AWH is rendering services for over 5000 persons coming under different category of differently abled people.

The situation of economically and developmentally backward region like Northern Kerala, is pathetic as in the more poverty ridden area, especially among minority people, the rehabilitation services for disabled people were almost nil. In this context, the organisers of AWH felt the need to escalate a planned scientific approach to rehabilitate the people with disabilities.

AWH started both residential and daycare, special education/training centres for various disabled groups such as hearing impaired, visual impaired, mentally handicapped, cerebral palsied, locomotor disabled, multiple disabled like deaf-blind, leprosy cured and also for the genetically and hereditary disabled people. Simultaneous with the disability services, AWH were also vigilant to sensitize the issues related to women and children in distress, aged people, substance addicted and chronic disease affected people, hence, AWH started appropriate service and treatment centres for them.

AWH was very particular at its inception itself that all services and activities should be scientific and time-tested. Therefore AWH focuses on a systematic approach in the rehabilitation services. The activities emphasised were Early detection and Intervention, Special Education, Vocational training and Job placement

At present AWH is rendering services for over 5000 persons coming under different category of differently abled people.

The Association for Welfare of the Handicapped popularly Known as “AWH was formed in the year 1973. It was registered in 1975 under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. The organization is also registered with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India under Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act of 1976, with FC No.052880056 dated 10.4.1985. The organization has also obtained income tax exemption under sections 12A and 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961.

The Association for Welfare of the Handicapped, is a premier NGO, working mostly in the developmentally backward region of Malabar in Kerala State.

As of now; the aims and objectives of AWH encompass the entire rubric of development, education and rehabilitation.

The incidence of disabled population in a country like India has been estimated as 7 to 10 percent of total population. After having the protracted initiations rendered by various agencies in the area of disability rehabilitation, we could only cater to the needs of one percent of disabled persons in the country.
