THE WORLD OF BOOKS ‘’THE INK OF A SCHOLAR IS MORE SACRED THAN THE BLOOD OF MARTYR” India is well known for it’s status as a country with second largest population in the world . However,not many known that it ranks third in the world in the field of education. It has 217 universities,over 1000 medical,engineering and technical colleges and many research institutions,degree colleges and schools. To meet the needs of education and knowledge, the Indian literature provides a wide variety and range. About 50,000 new book titles are published in the country every year. The books cover a whole gamut of subjects,including special books for the children.There are books on each and every subject like stories, humor, comic, architecture, knowledge, politics, fiction, medicine, science, culture, tourism, heritage, religion, engineering etc. Besides Hindi and English, there are books in regional languages. Children’s book are attractively produced with colored illustrations, visuals and in simple language. The book in a shop, library or exhibition seems like a rocket fueled with wisdom. If peace is the bread of the nation, then the knowledge is everything, it sustains life. It gives the right to man to preserve a lasting memory and knowledge. It inspires peace and freedom. It shows the road of development. It is a firmament of human expression and spirit. Even in this era of video and television, the books continue to be the best friend of the man. The books remain the primary source of ideas, education and entertainment. They are unfading light. Wisdom flows from the pages of the books. Books are immortal and have no distinction of caste, creed or color. These are incorruptible and sincere, sturdy and loyal. Through the books humanity gets to know itself. People acquire durability, wisdom, expression, experience, immortality and the lesson of history.
