COVID–19:IMPACT ON THE WORLD

COVID-19 noticed as a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization has now sucked the whole world into the deep abyss of melancholy and solitariness. Over 400 millions of people across the world are now experiencing solitude due to the outbreak of an infectious disease that has threatened the very existence of the human race if not treated seriously.
Even though the outbreak of corona was a manmade disaster some people believe that all of this chaos has happened to bring peace and serenity to nature just as how the black plague hit the earth’s surface during the late 13th century and swiped out one–third of the whole population of the earth and bought balance to the nature. People may see this as a bizarre way to bring balance to the earth but sometimes we forget to understand that pleasant things come after a period of misery and despair.
As people are forced to remain at home due to the unprecedented spread of CoVID-19 we are witnessing a soaring decrease in the number of vehicles, which in turn results in cleaner atmosphere. As residents open windows to air their homes, they perhaps are noticing the lack of noise coming from construction sites, public works, road traffic, or life in general. They maybe noticing a slight shift in the freshness of air as air quality improve throughout the regions.
Satellite images from NASA and European Space Agency showed a significant decrease in the amount of nitrogen dioxide pollution in China during the early months of this year after the country went into lockdown. A similar effect has been seen not only in Italy but also in Los Angeles, New York and even in our own nation. Already, data shows that the main cities of India are recording much lower levels of harmful microscopic matter known as PM 2.5 and of nitrogen dioxide. PM 2.5 , particularly dangerous as it can lodge deep into the lungs and pass into bloodstreams and other organs , causing serious health risks.
Currently we are witnessing a dramatic change in the atmosphere of the Earth. The Ozone layer must have heaved a sigh in relief from the hazardous green house gases and the animals and birds may be wondering where the humans have vanished during this crucial period. It seems like nature is getting back to normal when humans are shutting themselves from the outside world. In a metaphorical way, it seems like we, the humans are the virus killing the nature. The effects of this reduction in pollution are not forecast to last through once life resumes and people go back to work, the pollution levels will rise again. But after all this chaotic mess we’ve been through, we can hope a shift in the mindset of people torturing the nature.
As we can see most of the people desolating from the outside world makes themselves comfortable with sophisticated technology while some others use this crucial time to reflect on themselves, to learn lessons from the past, to make worth of the present, and to anticipate a brighter future. Like this we can at least create a movement or change in our lives, during our long days spent with ourselves.
