Disease Management “Prevention is better than cure.” I have been hearing this quote since my childhood to date. Even the advertisements seen in T.V has the same thing to tell the world today regarding the COVID-19. But we, humans, always ignore certain things and end up regretting for our own action. Today, even during this lock-down time, we still see or hear people roaming around recklessly. I believe, it is either because they are not bothered by the graveness of the situation nor aware about it. Prevention is far more economical than treating the disease. Today’s scenario is the best example for this. The irony is that if it was managed well we could have avoided what happened. The tools for dealing with the health conditions of today are not as specific and precise as those that haven available for the contagious disease. The normal prevention strategies like vaccinations, immunisations, sanitary sewage disposal and insect vector control and more importantly and the easiest method is personal hygiene. One of the main mode of transmission of infection is through contaminated hands. Routine hand washing therefore holds a place in preventing the spread. Hand washing is the easiest and simplest technique to kill the microorganisms present in our hands. On order to protect yourself, you have to take action not wait for someone else make it for you. Practise what you preach. We must see that we follow the rules before asking others to follow. Change always starts from within.
