Balanced Environment for a Better Living

All natural surroundings such as land , water, air, plants, animals, sunlight and forests constitute what we call the environment.A healthy environment maintains a natural balance for the growth and sustenance of all living organisms. Now a days some man-made technological advancements have adversely affected the balance among different elements in nature.Earth is generally held to be the only planet in the universe that supports life.

The environment provides a perfect condition for all forms of life to co-exist on the face of the earth. We truly are not aware of the vital role the environment plays in the lives of all living forms. If the environmental balance is upset every creature on the face of the earth will begin to suffer. It also has an important role in maintaining the ecological balance that is essential for all living organisms to flourish. It provides us with food, air, water, shelter and satisfies all human needs. Moreover the entire life support system of human beings depends on environmental factors.Environmental pollution is one of the most critical threats seen in almost all countries now a days. Harmful substances generated by the activities of modern man cause environmental pollution. Air ,water, sound ,soil, thermal, and radioactive pollutions make the continuance of life on earth risky. The waste materials generated from industries are the major cause of water, air and soil pollution.

The major sources of air pollution are the smoke from factories , vehicles, burning of plastic materials and the power plants. Emission of green house gases are also a big threat. Soil pollution poses a real threat to agricultural productivity, food safety and human health. The pollution of soil is a common occurrence these days and it happens due to man-made activities. Man-made chemicals cannot be processed by natural phenomena and so they remain a threat to the ecology. As a result fertility of the soil is degraded .

So we have to take every conceivable step towards reducing soil pollution as far as possible . Water pollution is another serious threat the environment faces . Polluting water bodies imperils the survival of aquatic life . Diseases can also be spread through contaminated water. Industrial units also pollute water bodies to a large extent, bringing wide spread destruction to aquatic life So keeping our water bodies crystal clear is an important need of the hour. Plastic, the wonder material that we use for everything, pollutes our environment. Careless disposal of plastic bags and utensils can have dire consequences. When plastic degrades it produces plastic dust which causes pollution and harms aquatic life .Plastic products discarded in the soil do not degrade and permanently remain a threat to the fertility of the soil . In short plastic ruins everyone's life on earth and it also adversely affects the environment .So the use of plastic must be reduced for the sake of the environment. Fossil fuels cause pollution, green house effect and smog. Fossil fuels negatively impact our environment and it contributes to global warming.Acid rain , oil spills , climate change and global warming are the direct aftermath of excessive dependence on fossil fuels .And increase in the consumption of fossil fuels leads to harmful effects on the environment. When fuels are not burnt completely they release carbon monoxide into the atmosphere, which is very dangerous as it is poisonous in nature .So we have to search for and find out other forms of renewable energy.

Air conditioning is making the environment hotter as it leads to global warming. The use of air conditioner increases pollution in the environment by releasing poisonous gases into the environment. These gases include CFC and hydro chloroflurocarbon. So we have to invent eco- friendly air conditioners. Mining and quarrying are very destrucrive to the environment. Quarries produce dust and noise .It also destroys the habitats of wildlife. Quarrying can also adversely affect the pre- existing ecosystem . Deforestation has many negative effects on the environment. The most dangerous one is the loss of habitats of many species of animals .

It also plays a major role in global warming. Moreover it causes ecological imbalance . Soil erosion is another fallout . Disasters like landslide and flood also take place due to deforestation.

The urgency of protecting and preserving our environment can never be underestimated .The time to act is now. The environment is a gift of God not only to our generation but also to all coming generations. So everyone of us has the duty and responsibility to protect and preserve the environment.
