Hunger- The Uncured Virus From the time of human evolution, man has been suffering from a virus. For a medicine he searched everywhere. At last he found it from nature and called it 'food'. So he named the virus 'hunger'. Viruses are the black marks in the history of mankind. But we've wiped them out one by one. Still starvation which is as old as human civilization remains uncured. A report says that in every 15 second a child dies due to hunger. 9 million people die due to hunger every year and this hunger is responsible for the death of 3 million children a year. Now starvation is spreading like a virus. It is there in every nook and corner of the world. Do we know that 82 crores of  people-one in nine-still go to bed on an empty stomach? On April 16, Bangladesh coastguard rescued 396 Rohingya refugees from the offshore and 24 among them died due to hunger. They spent 2 months in a boat without having food. In 1993 freelance photographer Kelvin Carter took his iconic and most haunting photograph which even gave him the Pulitzer prize. It was the photo of a vulture stalking a young Sudani girl. This picture informed the world about the depth of hunger in Africa. Still 65% of Africans are starving. 41 million Americans worry, how or when they'll be able to have food. India being the largest democratic country, built walls to hide starving faces. Can we forget Madhu who was killed, accusing that he'd stolen food? There's a lot of people wandering in the streets for food. There's a lot of children labouring in industries for food.. The situation is same all over the world. Majority of the population is dying due to hunger while the minority troubled due to indigestion. It is estimated that 1/3 of the total food produced is wasted. We're consuming food for our greed rather than our need. The pandemic-Covid-19 which took the life of 1.75 lakh people is a result of our greed. Nature gave food as a medicine to hunger. But is it a licence to kill and eat anything? The unscientific and illegal animal selling in Wuhan market lead to the outbreak of Covid. So Covid-19 is a warning against our greed! After realising the value of food, let's share it with the one who is in need. If hunger is the virus, food is the only vaccine. Hunger is the most painful temptation in the world. Let's overcome it with the only weapon in our hand called humanity.
