ENVIRONMENTAL HYGIENE Environment is the surroundings or conditions in which a person, animal or plant lives or operates .It is a place where different things are such as a swampy or hot environment. It can beliving or non- living things. It include physical ,chemical and other natural forces. Environmental hygiene encompasses effective cleaning of surfaces using appropriate products ,decontamination of medical equipments and devices used in patient -care procedures, safe and appropriate handling of sharps, blood and body fluid spills and waste.According to World Health Organisation good health is not merely the absence of disease ,it is also the reflection of the social and mental well -being of people of a community.Environmental sanitation strongly depends on social and cultural practices and beliefs and these have to be considered when planning interventions. To allow for transmission of infections against they have to be present in the intermediate human environment, exposure has to take place and transmission has to occur by uptake of the agents through unsafe practices.
