ESSENTIALITY OF HYGIENE Nowadays we are facing the bad effects of COVID-19 all over the world.The causative organism is the Corona virus.They are a family of viruses that can cause illness such as acute respiratory syndrome.It is a contagious disease.The virus spread by respiratory droplets released when someone with the virus coughs,sneezes or talks .To protect ourselves from COVID-19,we can wash our hands with soap for atleast 20 seconds.If soap and water are not available use an alcohol based hand sanitizer with atleast 60% alcohol. Personal hygiene plays an important role to wipe out these types of disease.According to World Health Organization (WHO), hygiene refers to conditions and practices that help to maintain health and prevent the spread of diseases. The government has now initiated the swachh Bharat Abhiyaan or clean India campaign for the improvement of environmental hygiene.This has made an awareness of closed toilets, clean surroundings, storing of drinking water,taking measures against pollution.Many diseases such as diarrhoea,tooth decay,Rat fever,Hanta virus,sores,dysentery etc... are the main diseases caused due to the lack of personal hygiene. Maintaining good hygiene includes bathing, washing our hands, brushing our teeth, wearing clean clothes etc... when the hands are not washed with soap after going to the bathroom and directly get involved with food preparation you may expose to numerous infectious diseases. Hygiene also includes proper sewage disposal, cleanliness,safe drinking water supply.Many people get sick because of impure drinking water.It mostly happens in villages where people bath,wash,clean the cattles in the same water.
