HELPFULL WAYS TO STRENGTHEN OUR IMMUNE SYSTEM AND FIGHT OFF DISEASE
How can we improve our immune system? On the whole, our immune system does a remarkable job of defending us against disease causing microorganisms. But sometimes it fails. A germ invades successfully and makes is sick. It is possible to intervene in this process and boost our immune system. What if we improve our diet?. Take certain vitamins or herbal preparations? These are no direct links between lifestyle and enhanced immune function. The first line of defense is to choose a healthy life style. Following general good health guidelines are the single best step we can take towards naturally keeping our immune system strong and healthy. Every part of our body including, our immune system, functions better when protected from bad healthy living strategies such as:


  • Don’t smoke
  • Eat a diet high in fruits and vegetables.
  • Exercise regularly
  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • If you drink alcohol, drink only in moderation.
  • Get adequate sleep
  • Take steps to avoid infection, by washing hands frequently and cooking meals thoroughly.
  • Try to minimize stress.
As we age, our immune response capability becomes reduced which in turn contributes to more infections. Respiratory infections influenza the Covid-19 virus are a leading cause of death in people over 65 worldwide. (As a result of Covid-19 cases in India, 428 deaths have been reported, there have been 136044deaths reported so far in the world.)
Whether the increased rate of disease is caused by the malnutrition’s effect on the immune system. There is some evidences that various micronutrient deficiencies, for examples deficiencies of Zinc, Iron, folic acid and vitamins A, B6, C and E alter immune response in animals as the impact of these immune changes on health of animals is less clear and the effect of similar deficiencies on human response is has yet to be assessed. Modern medicine has come to appreciate the closely linked relationship of mind and body. A wide varieties of maladies including stomach upset, hives and even heart diseases are linked to the effects of emotional stress. There is a relationship between stress and immune system.
Almost every mother had said it, “wear a jacket or you’ll catch a cold”! Is she right?. Probably not, exposure to moderate cold temperature doesn’t increase our susceptibility to infection. Regular exercise is one of the pillars of healthy living: It improves cardiovascular health, lower blood pressure, helps control body weight, and protects from a variety of diseases. Just like a healthy diet, exercise helps to boost our immune system. It may contribute even more directly by promoting good circulation which allows the cells and substances of immune system to move through the body freely and do their job efficiently. Feeding our body with certain foods may help keep our immune system strong. We should plan our meals to include these 15 powerful immune system boosters.
